Zonnique.

I laid on my comfortable king sized hotel bed, reading upon a magazine and eating chocolate covered strawberries. So far I've been here for only a day and it's actually very relaxing. I cut my phone off so no one will disrupt my peaceful getaway. When I finished reading, I threw it on the table and finished up all my strawberries. I licked my finger before sliding up off the bed. My protruding stomach poked out from beneath my dress causing me to sigh. Five more months. Having a baby is a blessing but it's also stressful and overwhelming. We still have to decorate the nursery and make the house 'baby proof'. The doctor said he couldn't determine the gender because of the way the baby is laying. Hopefully by my next checkup i'll find out what I'm having. I slid my black sandals on before grabbing the room key. I walked out and heading to the first elevator.

The doors opened up revealing a young man. He continued to lean against the wall with his headphones on, looking down at his cellphone. I stepped inside pressing the number one for the lobby. The elevator began moving down slowly until it abruptly stopped on the fifth floor, causing me to jerk. I gulped looking at the monitor to see three words: out of order. Aw dammit. I sighed deeply and constantly pressed the emergency button but of course it didn't work. The guy looked up taking off his headphones and causing me to squint my eyes slightly. He seemed so familiar but I couldn't think of his name.

"What happened?" he asked meeting eyes with mine. I widened my eyes realizing who it was.

"Uh.. the elevator broke down. I think the powerlines are down also"

"Dammit" he groaned pulling out his phone and sucked his teeth, "my phone is dead"

"And mines is in my room..." I sighed and rested my hand down on my stomach.

We sat there for another thirty minutes in complete silence. I can't believe he doesn't recognize me. If he does, he has a weird way of showing it. I glanced at Ray again noticing how different he looked. His hair was in some bun, he had a few tattoos and he's gotten taller. I haven't see him in about three years I think. He was sorta like my bestfriend though we used to fool around with eachother. Suddenly he began waving his hand in my face causing me to blink a couple times.

"Sorry Ray, I didn't- "

"How do you know my name?" He asked obviously dumbfounded.

"It's me, Zonnique duh"

Ray knitted his eyebrows and starred at me puzzled. "You're serious?"

"Yes. Why would I be kidding about this?"

"Sorry you just look... different" he muttered looking me up then down to my belly.

"It's cool"

"So how you been?"

I shrugged. "Good I guess but I still have my bad days. What about you?"

"I'm good" the tone in his voice told me otherwise. He was lying but I didn't want to intrude so soon, but I'll find out.

"Do you still live out here?" I asked to clear the awkwardness.

He nodded. "Yeah I kinda like it better than the U.K"

"Well I miss the UK. Sometimes I wish I never left. I wouldn't be going through all this bullshit..." I snarled under my breath and folded my arms.

Suddenly Ray cracked a small laugh. "You're still mean as hell"

"I am not mean!" I said defensively with a smile on my face.

"No need to be in denial Nique" he smirked.
