Campus Crush

Chapter 3

"Is he going to pick you up?" I asked as Izzy walked back and forth between the bathroom and closet.

"Alec, why are you so nervous? I've been on dates before," she stopped looking at herself in the mirror.

"Because we're in college now. Guys are different," I got up walking to the window, "there dicks stay in their pants less."

A pillow hit the back of my head, "Alec!"

I laughed, "hey you've met Jace." I picked up the pillow and threw it back and as we both laughed there was a knock at Izzy's door.

I rushed passed Izzy and grabbed the handle as she gripped her hand above mine.

"If you do this then I'm going to text Magnus for you," she grinned knowing how nervous I was.

How couldn't I be nervous? Magnus was gorgeous, and charming, and a bit mysterious. I wanted to text him so bad, but I was nervous. The thing that kept my hopes up was that he thought I was cute.

"Fine," I let go of the handle and stepped back crossing my arms.

She fixed herself and opened the door, "hi Simon."

He waved awkwardly and walked in. He wasn't much taller than Izzy. He had curly brown hair and it looked like brown eyes underneath his glasses. He wasn't my taste, but I could tell he was shy and wouldn't be hurting Izzy intentionally.

"So Alec if you don't mind leaving now so I can go out," Izzy gestured to door.

I put my hands up, "okay I get the drift."

As I walked past Simon I stopped at smiled, "don't let her control you."

Izzy pushed me out as I laughed. Once out the door I took a breath of relief. Izzy make break that poor kids heart first.

I walked out of her dorm house and to my car. I started thinking about what Izzy had told me earlier that day. 'The worst that can happen is it doesn't work out. Alec you can't be alone forever.'

She's right. I've just never wanted something to work out like this. I've had two open relationships since coming out, but they weren't that great. Magnus, there's no way he wouldn't be great.

I stopped at my car and took my phone out taking a deep breath. I pulled Magnus's number up and sent him a text.

Hey it's Alec from last night, I was wondering if you might want to get something to eat tonight?

I got in my car and drove to mine and Jace's apartment. We only lived about 5 minutes from campus. Izzy wanted to live with us but thankfully for freshman campus rules she couldn't. We're hoping she makes a friend so next year she can live with them.

I made it home and was walking inside when my phone buzzed and my heart almost stopped.

I'd love to meet up tonight. I have an RA meeting at 7 so maybe we could meet up at 8. I'm feeling pizza, what do you think?

I smiled big. Pizza, one word a Brooklyn boy like me understood well.

Pizza sounds great. Gino's on campus at 8?

I walked into my apartment kicking my boots off at the door as my phone buzzed again.

I'll see you there. 😉

Oh my god. I have a date. I knew I was grinning like a kid who just ate a whole bag of candy. My candy wanted to see me. With a winky face I might add.

I walked to my room and a panic filled my body. What do I wear?!
