"I never want to see a court room again," I stated packing up some clothes.

We had spent the last two weeks talking to lawyers and judges to put that slime ball away and it was finally done.

"Me too, but I'm more excited it's break time," Magnus smiled big putting more clothes on the bed.

"Magnus, how much clothing do you think I need?" I laughed.

"Alec, it's a month break, I don't know when we're coming home, so a late," he went back to my closet.

I sat down on my bed.

"I hope everything goes good on Christmas," I muttered looking at my feet.

I was so nervous about going home. This would be the first Christmas without my dad home. I don't know if I was more worried about it being weird or my mom being sad. I knew she was going to have all of us. But it was still her own husband. He had hurt her only one holiday ago and now she'd have to make it through this one. Izzy kept up with her the most since then. She told us that she was doing good. Her divorce attorney told her that there was a group of women that got together every Wednesday and just went out. She made some friends through the 'divorced ladies'. I was happy for her and desperately hoping that she was genuinely doing better.

Magnus came back out throwing two jackets on the bed and pulling my chin up to look at him.

"Alexander, baby, it's going to be okay. Even if your mom gets a little down she has her children with her. The people who will love her no matter what happens. She knows you guys aren't leaving her," he stroked my cheek with his thumb.

He was right. My mom had us and Magnus. Wither he knows it or not he's a part of this family now and my mom is so happy about that.

I took his hands off my face and placed them in mine putting each one up to my lips and kissing them. He blushed watching me.

"Magnus, I'm so happy I met you," I smiled big.

He leaned down and kissed me softly. I'm so happy I get to keep him with me during this unpredictable break.

"Magnus, could you please tell my mom that I eat my vegetables?" Jace almost shouted with a full mouth.

"Jace close your mouth!" my mom laughed trying to keep hers back.

"Well that's gross, but yes he does eat them and usually we put cheese on them," Magnus laughed nudging my sister.

"It still counts," he pointed his fork at him.

We all laughed trying to keep everything in. We'd been home two days and honestly it was great. Every once in a while we could tell that my mom was on the verge of sadness, but we'd reel her right in. Of course there's no way we could all just be fine, but we weren't going to dread everything.

"I'll clean up," Izzy smiled big and stood up grabbing hers and our mothers plate.

Izzy was done pretty fast and we decided we all wanted to watch a movie together. Jace insisted on picking it and Magnus prayed it wasn't a scary one. He was a tough man, but he didn't like scary anything.

"Okay before we start to the movie, I have something I want to tell you guys," my mom stood in front of the tv.

Jace looked at me and I think we both agreed that if she said she had a boyfriend we were going to freak. I know she's single and should be happy, but we weren't ready to be watching out mom and Izzy just yet.

"So you all know this Christmas is going to be a little different for us. I know you're all nervous too."

Nervous is an understatement.

"I decided we should do something different, start a new tradition."

"Mom, we never really had a tradition," Izzy laughed.

"I know but," she stopped, "I just don't want to spend the holiday in this house."

I could feel her breaking so I quickly jumped up and hugged her.

"Mom, were all here for you, we'll go where ever you want," I pulled back smiling big.

I looked to my family and we all nodded.

She wiped her face, "thank you. With that being said I rented us a cabin in the mountains for a week over Christmas."

I think the stunned silence wasn't the reaction my mom was expecting.

We never took vacations over holidays. My dad always complained that it was the worst thing ever to do and that it was a waste of money. But a cabin in the mountains of New York for a week? On Christmas? My mom wasn't sparing any money.

"So, are you guys..." she started to say before Jace shout up.

"Mom, this is amazing!" he hugged her tight.

"Mom, the mountains? Are you going to ski?" I laughed.

"Hey, were all skiing," she laughed.

"Magnus, do you know how?" Izzy asked.

He had been a little quite.

"I've never been to the mountains," he mumbled.

"Never? Not even a day trip?" I asked taking his hand.

He shook his head and my mom sat down next to him.

"Then this will be a great Christmas," she smiled big placing her hand on his shoulder.

"Yes it will," I kissed his cheek and I could see the little blush.

A getaway to the mountains with my baby? He has no idea how great his Christmas is going to be.
