-Evangeline's POV-

I haven't talked to Payne in 2 days.

Max and I have became much more closer since the fight. I wasn't about to talk to Grayson anytime soon but Payne was an exception.

Because you like him.

I shook the thought as I was walking through the house and to the living room.

We haven't gotten any news from The Rebels. It seems as if we are both standing still right now.

"Can we talk?" I heard someone say. I slowly turn around to see Payne.

"About?" I question with a straight face. He moves closer and I move backwards.

"Come on. You can't keep ignoring me." He sighs out.

"I'm not ignoring you. I'm just choosing to not associate with children who pick fights for no reason." I explain.

He furrows his brows and slumps his shoulders.

I love that I can talk to him like this now because the Payne I met first would have been very upset with how I'm talking to him right now.

"That's ignoring." He said. I shook my head sitting down on the couch.

"No no. It's smart communication." I said turning the TV on.

"Evangeline, what do I have to do to talk to you?" He pleads.

"Aren't you talking to me right now?" I question raising an eyebrow.

"Jesus Christ." He sighs out.

I smile big and look straight ahead.

He walks over to me with determination and kneels down in the ground right in front of me.

"And what are you doing?" I ask. He looks right up at me with his dark eyes.

"I'm begging you to talk, for real talk, to me." He said softly.

My heart melted a little at just the sight of his vulnerable eyes.

"What would the guys think about this?" I ask looking away from him.

Don't cave. Don't cave. Don't cave.

"Who fucking cares?" He said. I shrug and look down at him. He was still on his knees and he was still looking at me in a pleading manner.

"Aren't you supposed to say something to convince me to agree with you?" I ask.

"I don't know. I've never begged before. People usually just listen to me." He said.

I roll my eyes and look away again.

"Like what? What am I supposed to say to convince you to talk to me again?" He begs.

"Figure it out since you seem to do everything else fine." I said.

When I looked down at Payne he had a face void of emotion.
