Chapter 34

Ryan's Pov-

I heard Bryce and his mother arguing in the room about text messages.
I was confused.
Everything about today has me confused.

As soon as they got back someone was at the door.

Actually multiple people.

I open the door with a smile and say Jon and Luke.

"Hey?" Why were they here.

Bryce's mom came up behind me and hugged them two, "good to see all my boys in one place."

Bryce was awkwardly hugging himself by the couch. He smiled and gave a small wave at them but flushed like he was embarrassed.

I went to stand beside him but he shuffled around and looked to the ground.
What the hell?

Bryce's mom gave me a sympathetic look.

Okay I was done being confused.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked.

Luke and Jon shrugged but Bryce held out his phone.

"Mom found some messages that were between Hayden and I from awhile back." He said.

Hayden? "That boy from the haunted woods?" Jon asked.

Bryce nodded.

"He has been texting me non stop and I've been responding- friendly! Not flirting. But I guess he mistook those messages." He sighed threw his phone across the room when it kept beeping. He whispered, "damn phone."

I shook my head, rubbing my face. "This is what it's all about?"

His mom looked me in the eye, "no. There are messages from when y'all started dating that Bryce sent saying that 'a night of freedom would be nice.'" She used quotations to demonstrate what he had said.

Now that hurt.
I looked at Bryce, he wouldn't meet me in the eye.
I looked towards Luke and Jon, Luke looked upset but Jonathan was the one who looked angry.

I walked towards his phone and picked it up.
Looking at his messages from Hayden.

"You said you had feelings for him?" I asked my voice starting to crack.

He looked up real fast, "I said that before me and you started dating."

I nodded and kept scrolling.
And I found what I was looking for.
The text his mom mentioned.

"The beginning of last month, 'hey brycie-poo.'" I tried imitating a stupid voice.
"Brycie-poo?" Whispered Jonathan.

""Hello Hayden, how's life treating you?' 'Ya'know kinda like this guy who is taken." I cleared my voice. I could feel tears well up inside me.

"'Really must suck. I know the feeling.'" He must've been talking about when Cry and I were dating.

"'I'm just gonna come out straight forward with you (even though I'm not lol)'" I looked up, "that was in parentheses, cute."

I let out a small chuckle and everyone looked at me like I was insane.

"'What is it?', haha I know what it is. 'I love you, please come on one date with me. We will be free.' Haha see I knew it. I'm a motherfucking genius, you guess."

Jon walked over and hugged me while Luke just stared at Bryce.

"It took you a day to respond but you responded with, 'I will. A night of freedom would be nice.'" I choked.

Jon grabbed Bryce's phone and screamed, "This guy has the nerve to say, 'is that Ryan guy to clingy?' I will fight you."

I was crying. Why does this hurt? Should this hurt? I am clingy. Maybe Bryce needs a break.

I grabbed my keys and phone.
I slowly walked to Bryce, holding his face in my hands.

"Bye, love." I kissed his cheek and grabbed Luke's and Jon's hands leading them to the door.

I said my goodbyes to Bryce's mom and left.
