Chapter 3

Kakashi POV

~ Day before Kakashi's date ~

Kakashi had just finished his mission and is currently jumping from tree to tree back to the leaf village with his squad. He was annoyed with his performance today. His lack of focus almost caused him to fail his mission. If Itachi hadn't stepped in and saved him at the last minute, he would've been dead. What happened? Kakashi thought he finished off his opponent and let his guard down. How could he have been so careless to not finish off the enemy? Well, there's only one explanation for this.

"It sounds like you're more focused on getting home then your own well-being, is someone waiting for you captain?" Itachi asks as they both stop on a tree branch for a break.

Kakashi remained silent. He didn't want to admit he wanted to see you again before your date. Or at least he thought it was a date.

Itachi smiled. "That person must be special to distract you during missions. But that's all the more reason you should protect yourself from harm's way, so our loved ones don't have to worry so much at home when we're away."

Kakashi sighed with exhaustion. He must be losing his edge to have Itachi, the youngest member in his squad, give him advice. But he was right.

"I suppose you're right. Let's finish up so we can make it back to the village before nightfall."

"Right!" Itachi says as he puts his mask on.

~ Meanwhile, back at the Leaf Village ~

(Name) POV

"Gai, why are you following me?" you say as you are shopping for groceries. You ran into Guy while you were dropping Naruto off at the academy, and he's been with you ever since.

"Well, that's a great question! I am protecting you from men that would possibly target you while Kakashi is away! It's the least I can do for him!" Gai says while observing the area.

You were blushing, not because of Gai, but because you thinking about Kakashi. "I wonder if he is excited about tomorrow like I am... I wish tomorrow was an actual date" you thought as you have a flashback of your failure to ask him out.

"Why do you feel the need to do that? It's not like we're together..." you say with a hint of disappointment in your voice.

"Well, even so, you're still special to Kakashi. I haven't seen him pay attention to a girl for a long time. And that tells me you can change him!" Gai says while striking a pose, you can almost see a light shine down on him.

"Gai I wish I had your energy." You laughed as you exit the market with your groceries. Gai was carrying some bags as well.

"You should train with me sometime! You'll build up some stamina in no time! By the way, why do you need all this food for? Seems a bit too much for one person to eat." Gai says as he notices he is carrying a whole bag full of instant Ramen.

You laugh nervously. "Well between me and my younger brother, we can eat a whole months supply of food in a matter of days so I got to keep food in stock before my brother blames me for eating our food. Even though I'm the one paying for it."
