Chapter 21

Kakashi POV

Kakashi and the rest of the group were running past trees in the forest. They were almost near the Hidden Mist ahead of schedule. The sun was setting as they continue. Everything was running smoothly until Naruto tripped over a root from a tree. I rolled past the three men and collided with a tree. The rest of the group stopped while Jiraiya started laughing.

"K-Kakashi-sensei... b-break.. please" Naruto struggled to speak before he fell unconscious. Kakashi sighed and took off his bag and headband.

"Since we are a couple minutes ahead of schedule, we can take a 15-minute break. Regain your strength so we can head out afterward." Kakashi said to Gai and Jiraiya as he sat next to Naruto pulling out Icha Icha Paradise from his pocket.

"Finally! I'm gonna go take a leak!" Jiraiya said as he dropped his things and ran away from the group. Gai sat down and drank from his bottle of water.

"I could've kept going but if we gotta take a break I'm not against it." Gai laughed as he leaned against a tree. Then Gai noticed Kakashi grab Naruto from his uncomfortable position and placed him on his lap to sleep. Naruto took off his headband and fell asleep. Kakashi continued to read with one hand while resting his head on the other. Gai smiled to himself.

"(Name)-chan, you really brought these two together! So youthful even to this day!" Gai thought to himself as he closed his eyes.

~ To a hotel in the Hidden Mist ~

You enter the room first and switch on the lights. There were two beds and a nightstand in between them along with a bathroom. You sighed in relief, worried that Tobi would've asked for a room with one bed. Tobi closed the door, closed the curtains on the window so the outside couldn't see, and took off his mask.

"I know you're mad at me so I gave you some space tonight. I just wanted you to rest up and regain your strength before we investigate the labs tomorrow. It's going to be heavily guarded so I need you to rest up." Tobi said while taking off his gear, coat, and shoes, not making eye contact with you. You were beginning to wonder if he was starting to grow suspicious of you as you did the same thing as him. Tobi made his way to the bathroom until you hugged him from behind, startling him.

"(N-Name), what are you doing.." he said while touching your hands that were wrapped around him.

"I'm not mad at you, but I do wish you'd be less aggressive with me sometimes. It feels like you're the one angry with me all the time." You said while you rested your head on his back since he was taller than you. You wanted to loosen the tension between you two so that Tobi wouldn't be suspicious of you. You had to maintain your cover, at least until the Leaf or Mist capture you after the investigation.

"My anger takes over, forgive me. I always cause you pain, don't I? I bet you wish you were with him right now, right?" Tobi turned around while your hands were still wrapped around him. You looked at him, shocked for a second. Then you sighed, closed your eyes, frowned, and removed your hands from him as you took a step back. Tobi was staring at you, waiting for your response.

"You always do this. You always bring up Kakashi. Why do you always feel the need to do that? It pisses me off that you always try to use him as an excuse to be upset with me! For once can we have a moment where it doesn't concern him? I am in a relationship with you, right? Then act like your my boyfriend instead of worrying about my ex all the time." You said while crossing your arms, part of it was true. It angered you how Tobi always tries to use Kakashi against you in some way. Tobi walked up to you and reached towards you. You were worried he was going to choke you as you prepared for the pain and closed your eyes. Instead, you felt one hand on your cheek and the other on your waist.
