Thomas Beckmann

Sarah and the doctors advised me to go home and get rest.

'Dr.'s orders, I did just that.

I walked in the front door of our huge house, that seems so out of life because she's not home.

It's eerie.

I was hoping that when I brought baby Sarah home, Katie would be with us...

Walking towards the nursery with Sarah in my arms, something caught my eye.

I set Sarah in her crib, and she was already asleep.

I walked back out into the living room, and her water was still everywhere. A pickle jar, a spoon, and a peanut butter jar was on the table.

Her favorite show, Csi:Miami, was still running.

I sat down on the couch and just started to cry.

Trying to calm down, I wiped my eyes, and turned the t.v. Up. I started to watch the rest of the Csi:Miami marathon.

--------

3 and a half months later.

She's still 'sleeping'.

Her parents flew here about 2 weeks ago?

Sarah took baby Sarah, and both of them are staying with her parents.

I'm alone.

Without her, I'm nothing. I always will be.

If she dies... I die too.

That might sound crazy, but I wouldn't know how I could handle Sarah by myself without her around.

But then, I would want to raise her, because that's what Katie would really want. I'd never let her down.

--------

The only thing I've been doing for the past 4 months, is sleep.

It's now the 4th month that she's been asleep.

I haven't visited her in about 2 and 1/2 weeks. So, I put my shoes and coat on, grabbed my Keys, and drove off.

I called Sarah and told her I was going to visit her.

I arrived at the hospital about 20 minutes later.

As I walked in, I stopped at the registration desk.

"I'm here to visit Katie Beckmann." I told the woman.

She told me I had to sign in, and that she's in room 3.

"You have an hour." She explained.

I nodded, and headed toward her room.

A doctor came out.

He saw me, and walked up to me.

"She awake." He said.

"Really! Can I see her?!" I asked.

"She may not remember you.."

"Why?..." I cried.

"While she was out, her brain shut down. It's back and running now, but be careful. Be Ready. She might not remember you.."

"Okay." I nodded.

I nervously walked into the room.

"Hi." I looked down at the ground.

"Who are you?"

I started to cry. Right Infront of her.

I lost her..
