Chapter 26

Katie Beckmann

"Bye mommy!" Sarah said as she made her way out of the car and into the elementary school.

"Bye baby! Have a nice first day back! I love you!" I yelled back

"I love you too!" She said while running up to her little friends.

I drove out of the drop off zone and back onto the roads.

"Ringgg.Ringgg" my phone vibrated.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hi, katlynn?" the voice rang out.

"Yes.. Who is this?" I asked again.

"It's Adam.."

"ADAM!!! You called! It's been like forever! What's up?"

"Well its actually only been 6 years.. But anyways, I have some news.."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Your mom... She got into an accident last night.. Katlynn. She's dying. You need to fly down here before it's too late." He said worriedly.

My mouth dropped.

I stopped the car and turned around and raced back to the school.

I parked the car and ran inside, into the office.

"Hi, I need Sarah Beckmann. It's an emergency.". I said with a worried look.

The secretary nodded and phoned her classroom.

"She'll be down in a few." The lady answered.

"Thank you.". I said as I sat down in the chair.

5 minutes later...

"Mommy, what's wrong?" Sarah asked as she stepped into the room.

"Grandma got into an accident. We have to fly down and see her. Listen, when we get home, I want you to run upstairs and put clothes and a couple of toys in your bag, and drag down your pillow and blanket. Okay.?" I told her.

"Yes mommy." She nodded.

I stood up and looked at the secretary," thank you", and I walked out.

I got into the car and waited for Sarah to buckle herself in.

Once she was ready I sped out of the parking lot and raced home.

I grabbed my phone and dialed Thomas's number.

"Hey babe! I love you, what's up?"

"Sarah and I are headed home. Pack a bag. Mom got into an accident and we have to fly down before we miss our chance to say goodbye." I said.

"Got it. Don't race all the way here. I don't want you getting hurt. I love you."

"I love you too." And with that, I hung up the phone.

We arrived home about 20 minutes later. I rushed inside with Sarah and packed up.

Sarah came trotting down the stair with a bag overfilling in her left hand, and her pillow pet and blanket in her right hand.

"Hunny, let me see your bag." I took the bag out of her hands.

I set it up on my bed and took everything out.

I folded all the clothes and put the toys back into it and zipped it back up.

"Go bring that out to daddy." I said kissing the top of her head.

She nodded and ran Down the hall.

Clothes? Check. Make-up and bathroom stuff? Check. Shoes? Check.

I grab my suitcase and purse and hurry down the hall and outside.

I hand my suitcase to Thomas and he puts it with the rest of the stuff in the back of the truck.

He gets in after I get in and looks at me. "You ready?"

"Yes." I said with a sad look.

And with that, he backed the truck out of the drive way and made his way to the highway.

3 hours later...

I open my eyes to see the sun disappearing.

I look behind me, to Sarah.

She's fast asleep, her pillow pet between her and her seatbelt, and cuddled up in her blanket.

I turn back around but hear her mumble something to me.

"Is grandma going to be alright mommy?" She said in a little voice.

"Yes. She will. Just go back to sleep pumpkin. Okay?" I said with a soothing voice.

Please.. Please be okay mom.

Hey guys!

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while.. I've been sick and busy with some other things.

I can't wait for school to be over! Then I can write all day!

I'm also sorry that this is such a short chapter. It's technically just a fill-in chapter.

There's a lot more coming! I'm also starting to write the sequel. Which is about their daughter Sarah, as a teenager, and how famous the family gets.

Well, I got to go to bed.
