Chapter 16

Katie Atwood (Beckmann)

I decided to text him instead of calling.

I don't know why I didn't just call, I was just Afriad he'd go into deeper shock.

'She's on her way. Meet me at hospital.' I sent the text to both Sarah and Thomas.

I heard the sirens, and then the paramedics coming in through the front.

"Miss Beckmann?!" One of them called out.

"Here!" I screamed.

As they lifted me up on the gurney, I screamed even louder than before.

Hell, having a baby seems easy, but it hurts!

We arrived at the hospital and I was surprised to see Thomas already there. But I was glad he rushed here.

They rushed me into the labor department, and there, a painful hour and a half of pushing.

I sighed of relief when I heard the baby noise, and when the pain went away slowly.

"Honey, you made it." He couldn't help but smile. And right now, his smile was full of more happiness than its ever been.

I smiled back at him.

I could feel my heart slowly start to stop.

No..

"I love you Thomas." I looked at him with saddened eyes.

Suddenly, those eyes closed and my head rolled over.

Our baby girl is so beautiful, just like her mom.

I couldn't help but smile.

I had the best wife, and now my daughter has made her appearance in my life.

I looked over at Katie and smiled.

She smiled back at me and tried to say something.

"I love you Thomas" She looked up with saddened eyes.

Her eyes then closed and her head rolled over.

"Katie?!" I screamed.

God not again...

"HELP!" I screamed.

No nurses were around, no doctors. They were all with my daughter.

I got up and ran through the double sound proof doors, where they were cleaning my daughter off.

They all turned and looked at me with curious eyes.

"What's wrong Thomas?" Dr. Harnden asked.

"Katie. Help! She told me she loved me and looked at me with saddened eyes, then her eyes closed and her head rolled over." I panicked.

Dr.Harnden ran through the doors and nurses followed.

They told me I had to wait out in the lobby.

As I was waiting, a nurse came and handed me my daughter.

Sarah Mckenzie Beckmann.

I started to cry at the sight of Sarah.

She looks a lot like Katie.

"Thomas!" I looked up to see Sarah, Katie's best friend.

I jumped up to my feet, with baby Sarah still in my hands and looked at her with tears coming out of my eyes.

"What happened? Where's Katie?!" Sarah cried.

"Something happened to her heart. It slowly stopped working. I don't know if she's alive or if she even ever makes it. But I'm not leaving this hospital till I know. " My eyes gleamed at her.

She didn't say anything. As I sat down with Baby sarah still in my arms, Sarah came over and sat with me.

"Can I hold her?" She asked.

I handed her Sarah, and out my head in my hands.

I began to cry.

Baby Sarah fell asleep in Sarah's arms, and Sarah was asleep too.

2 more hours passed, and dr. Harnden came out.

I stood up without hesitation.

"Is she okay?!" I said Trying to hide the fact that I was crying.

"Well, she's stable but hasn't responded fully yet. We're gonna keep an eye on her and we'll check on her every few hours." he responded.

"Thank you. Can we stay in there with her tonight?" I asked.

"You may." He nodded.

I woke up sarah, and told her to try not to wake baby Sarah.

We walked into Katie's room, and took a seat, and waited.

Every time a nurse came in to check on Katie's progress, me and Sarah would switch back and forth, holding baby Sarah.

It was Sarah's turn to have baby Sarah,and they fell asleep in the chair by the door. I sat next to Katie, and took her hand.

"I don't want to lose you. Because the last time and accident happened, you almost didn't make it. So please, stay strong. For Sarah, me, and most importantly, your newborn daughter Sarah. I love you katlynn." I kissed her forehead.

I wouldn't let go of her hand, and I started drifting off to sleep, with my hand still in hers.

"I'll never let go." I whispered.
