Chapter 23 Meeting Rasheed

Maya was dumbfounded as she saw him walked towards them slowly, he looked older and worn out, and has huge eye bags, he was a bit lean and looks worried,
"Why is he here" she asked trying so hard not to flare up,
"Maya we......"DON'T talk" she interrupted Adeel and turned to Daddy Kabir, "why" she asked angrily,
"when you told me about Erica and you coming back, i had to tell him everything"
"Why"
"He is your father"
"He was, key word WAS my father" she shouted,
"Maya calmed down"
"No Daddy Kabir, don't tell me to calm down, he was among those who let me to die in cell for something i didn't commit" she said in tears,
"He didn't testify against you" said Adeel,
"I was weak and confused Maya, Thahani's death was a huge blow to me" said Rasheed in tears,
"Momma who is he" asked Thahani leaning on Maya,
"Am your grandfa..... "DON'T" she yelled interrupting her dad, and she added
" Adeel take Thahani to the car"
"But Maya... , "no buts just take her" she yelled, Adeel just sighed and pulled Thahani out, who surprisingly didn't oppose,
"You have no right to introduce yourself as that to her"
"Lulu, forgive me, i know you may have your difference with Thahani but you will never kill her, not for riches nor anything, i know you love Thahani", Maya sighed and said "surprisingly it came as a relief to hear you say that" she said and sat down on a nearby sofa, on the spot the frustrations of years showed on her face,
"and i can testify for you over and over again" added Rasheed coming closer to her,
"Every passing day i feel guilty of killing Thahani because i was a terrible sister" she said now in tears,
"Terrible, now what is the sense of you being terrible, the fact that you always stand in for in school, the fact that you were always by her bed when she is sick, you always tell her how beautiful she is and sing for her when she cries at night when you were kids, you teaching her how to be kind to the needy and poor, you teaching her Islamic prayers, Maya i was always proud on how you love your sister and loved you for that, i felt Thahani needed more love cause she may be fragile"
"You disowned me twice, because of my decision, i may not be close to you but it felt like thousands of needless piercing my heart at once"
"A foolish decision i made and i regret" he said breaking down in tears and he added, "my greatest wish is to have my two daughters back, if i can't have the dead one also, let the one alive take me back as a father", Maya looked away,

"Maya your father's house is the only house that will serve as sanctuary for you, even if the Omani government is behind you" said Daddy Kabir,
"Why" she asked with a cracked voice,
"Your father is a well known powerful man in Nigeria, with you in his house, no fake warrant for your arrest can be issued, but with you somewhere else, it will only take some few days to convince the Omani government to let you be taken to cell till the case is over" said Kabir,
"I don't think am ready, you have know idea how it feels to be rejected by your own biological father, you have no idea how it felt for me to say, i have no father anymore and he isn't dead, ".
"This isnt about you ready or not, it is about your life, your daughter's, and justice for your sister" said Daddy Kabir,
"Come home to me daughter" he said opening his hands, Maya burst into tears and looked away,

"Maya your father showed great joy, the day i met and talked to him about your whereabouts, he was so happy Maya, he said apart from your birth, it was the happiest day of his life" said Kabir,
Maya sighed as tears ran down her cheeks,

"Maya even thou i disowned you, i never stopped loving and knowing your well being, your name was never taken off as my first heir, every whereabouts of yours, i had SS tailing you, even your neighbors in both your old house and the new house were the ss i was paying to watch you, i cared alot about you, i just have a wired way of showing it"
"Yeah, by always finding faults in every action and choices of mine" she said bitterly,
"Am sorry"
"Wait a minute you said you had SS following me, that night, they must have known my whereabouts" she said hopefully,
"Exactly Maya but the night Thahani was murdered, the batch that were suppose to be with you while outside your home, said they received an official call to meet me in my office, and on seeing them, that was when the hotel called me and told me about Thahani's death, one of my greatest mistake Thahani has no SS, it is clear, someone murdered your sister to frame you", Maya was dumbstruck, she looked at her father and said
"why will someone frame me by killing my, sister, they could have gone for anybody"
"Still a mystery, Maya what was Thahani doing in a hotel, she has being there for almost five months and refused to meet me, she kept on creating excuses, and again it was said she wasn't alone, it was a double check in", Maya looked shocked and then said "she avoided me for almost five months, i think, i think i have an id...ea, but before then, am not saying anything till my lawyer arrives",
"Your choice, but Maya please come home"
"I will be coming home, but when this is over i will be gone and i expect you to do the same from my life"
"Maya please, i need you back in my life, am sorry"
"It will take a long time for me to heal, cause it wasn't easy for me, so don't expect accepting you back into my life will be that easy"
"Can i atleast meet my granddaughter", Maya hesitated for some seconds and said " i think it's time you meet Thahani, but don't take it too personal" she stood up as he stood up also, with that they all went out to meet Adeel and Thahani
