Chapter 25

Maya's case was issued to the high court of law again, there in the court a warrant for her arrest was issued but had to be declined by the Omani's government representatives, the federal authority had debate for hours before letting Maya be at home but under house arrest which they gladly accepted.

But when Erica and Adeel informed her about the house arrest that very day, Maya flared up and begun a tantrum,
"How dare they place me under house arrest, am no criminal, i know my rights, they have no rights to place me undetr this freaking house arrest"
"Maya is better than nothing" said Adeel,
"Hell no it's better than nothing, it is worse"
"And what will you call your ass up in the cell " asked Erica,
"Shut up"
"You see this house arrest is better" said Adeel,
"God, screw you and you"
"Stop being overdramatic and prepare for court session in seven days" said Erica rolling her eyes,
"Double screw for you" with that she walked away, "she is lousy" said Adeel,
"I heard that" she yelled back making Adeel and Erica to let out giggles.

Already the news has it that indeed Maya T.I.G has returned and her case has reopenend, the Omani government is said to have interfered and Maya escaped arrest and instead was placed under house arrest, and that her first trial will be next week.

The news was all over Nigeria and outside Nigeria, it became something international since the Omani government was involved, and it became a news of interest, especially when its is mentioned that she is the same Barrister that stood against a former powerful and influential president.

Kaseem and his wife heard and saw the news too.

In the night Maya was still in her grouchy mood, so everyone decided to let her be.
She was coming out from her closet when Thahani stopped her, "Momma will you sleep with me"
"No" she replied without turning and walked some steps forward,
"Can i sleep in your room"
"No, am not in the mood"
"Sorry" she sadly said, Maya turned just in time to see Thahani entering her room, just when Erica came out from there room, and seems to have heard everything, "not cool" she mouthed, "shut the f up" mouthed Maya too and headed to Thahani's room, on entering she saw Thahani trying to draw up the bed cover to the rest of her body,

"Am sorry Sissy, i have being of it lately" she said as she sat down by the bedside,
"I wish u have a big sister"
"I can be your big sister" said Maya said Maya smiling, "no, i need someone not adult, someone older than me with just a year or two"
"Too bad you are the first born and your own big sister deal with it" said Maya reaching to take her hand, when Thahani yelled "i want a big sister not you", Maya was taken aback and quickly withdrew her hand, "i thought you said Grandfather Kabir was a miracle, i want a miracle"
"Then pray for it Thahani, and for yelling i will not sleep with you and to top it all i am cancelling your shopping spree with Adeel and his girlfriend, Good night" with that Maya walked out of the room,

on closing the door she sighed and decided to take some fresh air, she went out and headed to the garden where the green house was, on entering the green house she saw her father by balcony, he inturn turned and saw her, she sighed and walked to him.

The two leaned on the rails, watching the stars in silent, when he cleared his voice and said

"i never would have married you out to someone, it was an empty proposition to get your mind off Kaseem", Maya chuckled and said "guess you knew it wouldn't work" and he nodded, "in so many ways, you are just like me, adamant, strong headed and ego maniac", Maya chuckled "i dont regret marrying him because of Thahani" she said, "oh yes i too for only that" he said with a nod and there was a minute silent when she said,

"But i learnt something"
"What" he asked confused,
"That you will always be my father", he was shocked as he watch and hear her continue "you may have disowned me and done things to me, but going against you by marrying Kaseem harmed me alot, i know it's faith, but what if there i agreed to your proposal and dumped him things will have change" she said with tears running down her cheeks,
"Am sorry Maya" he said hugging her,
"No am sorry father, am sorry Dad and promise to be a better daughter" she cried,
"Are you kidding, you are one of my best daughters" he said with a chuckle.
