Chapter 32

"D-do you think Red Leader will be an-angry to see this?" A lab girl quivered holding a piece of paper. A lab guy gulped and stared at the paper. "P-probably" They glanced at each other worryingly. They both heard the door open behind them, they froze. The man turned around to loom who it was. It was Tord. The lab guy pulled himself together the best he could, putting on a fake smile, trying not to shake, even trying to hide is trembling voice. "R-...Red Leader! We...we have some new news!" He spoke. Tord frowned. "Just get on with it...I have some other things to do." (Like spying on Tom?) Tord sounded a tad grumpy. The girl didn't bother looking behind her, she just handed the paper to the guy and whispered, "Good luck..." And walked off without making eye contact with anyone. The lab guy was hopeless, he's dead now. At least that's what he thought. "Well..." He cleared his throat. Tord crossed his arms impatiently. "...This is about your...uh...friend...T-...Tom..." Tord raised an eyebrow. "What about him?" He asked. "Um...re-remember that one side effect that started with the letter...'C'..?"

Matt was in the kitchen, grabbing a cola for Edd, but then his phone buzzed. He got a text. He picked it up and looked on it, Tord texted him. "Matt! I have something to tell you right now!" It read. Matt rolled his eyes. "Why can't you call me?" He texted back.  (Btw, if you're wondering how Matt can suddenly read and write, ((in my au he can't)) It's because in the past, Edd taught him how, but he forgot about that after the Meg thing) "2 reasons, 1. I don't want Edd to over hear, and 2. I'm kinda a mess right now." Matt raised an eyebrow. "A mess?" He asked. "Yes, a mess, now listen. This is very important." Tord texted back. "Okay..." Matt mumbled to himself. "Remember those side effects?" Tord asked. "Yeah..? What about them?" "Tom has a few of them." Tord said. "So does Edd. But so far it isn't any of the serious ones." Matt texted. "Tom has a pretty serious one..." Matt stared at that text for a moment. "...which one..?" Matt asked a moment later. Worried for the answer. Tord didn't text back. "Tord..?" No answer. Now Matt's getting worried. What's going on with Tom?

Tord sat in his office, he couldn't do it. He couldn't tell him. He tried his best not to break down. I'm a leader of an army, I can't cry. He kept telling himself. He heard his phone buzz, it was probably Matt. "I'm so stupid..." He mumbled to himself. He face planted in the desk. He heard a knock on the door. Tord yelled, "Go away!" They left. Tord lifted up his head a bit and opened a drawer in his desk. He looked inside and there layed the parts of Meg. Or what was of Meg. "Why did I have to make you..?" He sighed angrily and shut it closed. "Oh wait, I remember." He growled angrily. "I wanted to leave everything and everyone behind like the selfish person I am! I wanted to leave, but I didn't want them to miss me, so I erased their memories of me. The good ones, at least. I left SOME of the good ones. For some reason, I thought I had to do this so I could get into the army, but I could've just left without erasing their memories! I could've let them come with me! I could've left the army when I had the chance!" Tord blurted out in anger. He slammed his fist onto the table. After a few moments of silence, Tord calmed down a little. He wasn't as mad anymore. "This is all my fault... mine alone... not anyone else's...they don't have to suffer, I do. It's my fault, and I deserve the punishment. Not Matt, not Edd, and definitely not Tom."

"Sleep...sleep...sleep..." The little boy whispered. "Calm down..." His voice echoed in the darkness. "We'll all be able to talk soon... like a family! Shh...Tord, shhh...everything will be okay. You wouldn't have known what would've happened if you did it or not... you can't blame yourself forever..." He said in a calming voice. "Tom, none of your friends hate you. You'll be here with Tord soon... he meant well. But it didn't go well. Tell him you forgive him. He needs someone to say that to him honestly right now." The dark void slowly filled with stars.
