Brianna POV

"Klaus"

"Not today sweet face." The figure says as he walks forward. He stops when he's only mere inches away from me. I keep my eyes on the man's face until another sound breaks my concentration. I look to the side and watch as another figure moves forward. His eyes meet mine and he smiles.

"Well well well, so it's true-" He says looking me up and down. His gaze meets mine. "-your one of us." He smiles as his eyes turn bright red....

Elena POV

"We need to go find her." I finally say looking up. I don't know how long I'd been sitting in the living room with my face in my hands, but the shadows being cast around the room told me it was nearly dark. Damon sighs.

"She doesn't want to be found." He simply says before looking at fireplace. My gaze meets Stefan's and I watch as he gives me a slight nod, he was on Damon's side this time. Jeremy's eyes flicker with hope and he moves to the edge of his seat when my eyes meet his, he was on my team.

"How do you know that?" I ask as I stand up and begin pacing around the living room couch. Damon keeps his eyes on me as I walk back and forth. He looks at the ground before he looks back at me.

"If she wanted to be found she would be here by now." Stefan pipes up. Damon nods in agreement before looking into the fire again. I run my hand through my hair in frustration. This wasn't fair, none of it was. Brianna didn't deserve to be bitten, it should have been me, it would have been me if she hadn't pushed me out of the way. Why did she do it? That question had been swimming around my head since I saw the bite on Brianna's side.

She didn't have a motive to do it, and she barely knew us. That fact makes my guilt increase tenfold. How could she risk her life to save mine even if she didn't know me that well? Her humanity my mind whispers to me.  For a brief second, no matter how much I would hate to admit it, but the thought that Brianna still had control over her humanity makes jealousy flare in my chest. She had something that I had lost as soon as I turned into a vampire. No matter how much Jeremy or Stefan or Damon told me that I was the same, no matter how many times they said I hadn't changed I knew better than that.

The real me, the human Elena, wouldn't have to worry about ripping her best friends throats out, she wouldn't have to remind herself to hug people gently so that she wouldn't crush them, she wouldn't have to worry about hunting animals everyday after school so that she wouldn't feed on humans. Anger follows the jealousy as I realize everything I had lost, but my mind's focus quickly shifts to Brianna. Instead of thinking about everything I had lost I begin to think about everything she had lost.

Brianna had lost her entire life, she had lost her family and her friends. I was lucky to have my friends nearby and I also had Jeremy by my side, she had no one. Even if she wanted to go back she couldn't, she was a vampire now and the chances of her hurting them were extremely high. Especially since she had just made the transition this morning. Was it this morning? I ask myself. It felt like everything had happened a week ago, not hours. I look at Jeremy and guilt fills my chest, replacing the anger and the jealousy.

Brianna would never have anyone there for her to tell her everything was fine or that she could make it if she really tried. In less than a second I have Jeremy wrapped in my arms. I hug him tightly and bury my face in his shoulder.

"Whoa 'lena." He says as he wraps his arms around me. I swallow hard as Jeremy's arm tighten around me. No matter how alone I felt, I would always have Jeremy.

"Let's go find her." I whisper. Jeremy nods. I take his hand and together we run out the door.

Brianna POV

"How do I know you won't kill me?" I ask as I follow the two figures in front of me. I duck my head as I pass a fallen tree. I didn't know where these two figures were taking me, I also didn't know why I was following them, it just kind of happened.

"Because you trust us." The younger figure says to me as he turns and gives me a smile. I smile back at him and then quickly shake my head. The figure chuckles, I needed to know who these people were and why they were following me.

"We'll answer your questions as soon as we get back to the house." The older figure replies as if he could read my thoughts. I open my mouth but close it again. A million questions fly through my head but I keep quiet, the figure said they would answer them as soon as we got to the house. What kind of house? I ask myself and I frown. I really felt the urge to speak but I didn't feel like pushing the older figure's temper. I didn't know how they would react to my curiosity and frankly I was afraid to see them snap. All I knew for sure was that I was following two strangers in the woods, I didn't know where they would lead me and I didn't know where we were going. And yet, still knowing all this, I continued following them through the woods....
