Brianna POV

My feet move forward to follow Tyler as he runs out of the kitchen. A hand grips my elbow, I turn and find Tyler's friend looking at me intently.

"Let him go." He says quietly.

"Why?" I ask trying to keep the fear out of my voice,  I didn't exactly feel safe around this stranger. Although he was a friend of Tyler's I hardly knew anything about him. He had dark brown hair, similar to Tyler's and he had an olive complexion. A beard was beginning to grow along his jaw, I couldn't deny it, this stranger was a bit of a looker. If he wasn't so serious all the time he might actually be charming, but his silent and mysterious personality made him a bit unsettling.

"He has some things he needs to settle." He replies looking at the kitchen doorway. His eyes flicker back to mine and I look away from his brown-eyed gaze.

"Let's get you something for your throat-" He says after a while, he walks towards the doorway but pauses. "-stay here." He adds turning around for a second. He holds my gaze before turning back and walking out the doorway.

"Where else would I go?" I huff underneath my breath.

"I heard that." I jump as he pokes his head through the door. I open my mouth to respond but he grins and disappears before I have the chance to say something. You need to be careful, they have super hearing abilities remember? I roll my eyes. Of course this would be the perfect time to start arguing with myself. I knew supernatural creatures had heightened hearing abilities but I never actually spent my time around them. I was either out hunting or pretending to be a normal teenage girl, now I was going to be forced to get used to the fact that I would always be around vampires, and any other supernatural creature for the matter.

You're not going to be around vampires for the fun of it, you are a vampire. The little voice in my head adds. I clench my jaw. Of course I knew I was a vampire, I didn't need anyone to be reminding me. I wasn't just a vampire, I was a hybrid. That meant that I was a little of both, I was part vampire and part werewolf. A light bulb clicks in my head and I place my hand towards the base of my throat. Moving my hand upwards, I find the small section just underneath the side of my jaw, were my pulse was suppose to me.  I close my eyes and try to breath slowly as I wait. Relief and happiness surge through me as I feel small little jumps underneath my skin, I still had a heartbeat. I open my eyes and blink quickly to get rid of the tears that were beginning to form. I jump a little as I notice the stranger standing in the doorway staring at me.

"I've never seen a vampire so relieved to have found out they still have a heartbeat." He says walking into the kitchen. I place my hands on the kitchen counter to get rid of the slight shake that was going through them.

"I'm a hybrid-" I retort. I couldn't hide the tone of relief that was in my voice even if I tried. "-and I never wanted to be one, so it's kind of a relief to find out I'm still human, even if it's just a small part of me." I add softly.

"You're looking at this the wrong way-" The stranger replies, he stands on the opposite side of me. "-this is a gift, a way for you to get away from your old life, it's a way for you to start over."

"What if I didn't want to start over?-" I challenge. "-my old life was perfectly fine-"

"Was it?-" He asks cutting me off. "-or do you just think it was? Or were you trained to believe everything was fine?" I gasp.

"How would you know anything about that?" I ask. I had never talked about my life to anyone other than Stefan and Damon, Elena and Jeremy were there too but I hadn't seen this guy and Tyler until I met them in the woods.

"I have connections-" He says firmly. "-they inform me about every supernatural creature that enters and leaves Mystic Falls." He adds before I can question him.

"Why would you need information about the supernaturals that enter Mystic Falls?" I ask.

"This is my town, I have friends and family here, friends and family that I need to protect. I ask for that information so I know what I'm dealing with and to be sure that no one I love is in any kind of danger." I look away from the stranger's piercing stare, of course he was right. Everyone in this town seemed to be right when it came to things like this, if I was in his position I would do the same thing.

"What else do you know?" I ask trying not to make eye contact.

"That you were a hunter, trained basically since the day you were born. That's all the information I was given, everything else I know was what you told Tyler and I." I nod. Whether I was nodding in acknowledgement towards the stranger or just to myself I wasn't entirely sure.

"Here." The figure slides a small pouch, about twice the size of a tea bag towards me. I catch it the pouch before it falls to the ground, the contents had the consistency of milk. The dark purple liquid swished around the bag, I didn't have to open it to know what it was.

"I don't need this." I say holding the bag out to him. The stranger shakes his head.

"You need it for this-" He replies touching his own throat. "-and for that." He adds pointing to my side. I look down and notice the blood on my shirt, my bite wound had stopped bleeding but it didn't look any better.

"It's vampire blood in case you were wondering." The figure says as I eye the pouch warily. I sigh as I bring the pouch to my lips.

"Thanks." I mutter as I bite the plastic. I pull hard and manage to tear a small piece off the corner. I take the bit of plastic out of my mouth and place it on the counter. Without thinking twice I take the pouch and tilt it upwards, sweetness fills my mouth as the blood flows down my throat. I try not to think about the sickly sweet taste as I continue to down the entire contents of the pouch.

"Do you have a garbage can?" I ask as I swallow the last of the blood. The figure holds out his hand and I hand him the empty pouch. The burning in my throat had all but disappeared all that was left as a reminder was a slight tingle, curiously I lift the edge of my shirt. The bite wound was now closed, I now had small circular scars where the open wounds used to be.

"That stuff does work." I mutter to myself and I hear the figure chuckle. I look up to find him smiling at me.

"What's your name?" My mouth asks before my brain can think. The figure's smile disappears, he opens his mouth but closes it.

"Ma...Maybe next time." He says with a small smile.
