Elena POV

"Stefan stop!" I yell at his back. I hear Stefan laugh and I watch as he surges forward. I grumble as I push myself to go faster, no matter how hard I tried I could never keep up with Stefan's pace. Maybe it was the fact that he was 165 years older than me, that gave him this advantage. Either way I still didn't like it that he could beat me at anything I did. As a human I wasn't fairly competitive, especially when it came to doing things with Stefan, but once I turned my competitive factor seemed to be heightened by twenty.

"Stefan! I meant it!" I literally growl. My breath rushes out of my lungs as I crash into Stefan.

"Oomph." I hear myself say as we both tumble to the ground. Stefan's laugh echoes throughout the forest as I try to pick myself up.

"What was that for?" I grumble.

"You told me to stop." Stefan replies throwing me his million dollar smile. He stands up and brushes his jeans off.

"Yeah but you could have at least told me-" I'm cut short as the scent of blood fills my nostrils. Stefan freezes and his eyes widen slightly, I pretend not to notice how intently he was watching me, as if I might snap any second. The truth was, I honestly could snap any second, no matter how much I said I was in control there was always something that could push me over the edge. I let out the breath I had been holding slowly and I take a deep breath. Something was different about this scent, human blood smelled fresh and...delicious? There was no other way I could describe it, it was like having a huge craving and suddenly smelling that very food you craved for. This blood smelled...different, it smelled like old pennies and my gag reflex was kicking in.

"Don't worry about me-" I say to Stefan. I cover my nose with my hand. "-this isn't human blood-" I stop for a second as I take another deep breath. "-and it's not animal blood either." Stefan relaxes slightly and turns in the direction of the smell, he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.

"It smells familiar, but I can't exactly place it." He says after a few seconds. He takes a step forward but then hesitates. He looks back at me, his eyes were filled with wonder.

"Do you think we should?-"

"Yeah." I say cutting him off. We needed to figure out exactly what this scent was, especially with it being so close to the house. I walk towards him and hold out my hand, a smile slowly spreads on Stefan's face and his hand takes mine. Our fingers inter-wine and we run through the forest.

Tyler POV

"What do you mean you don't know?" Brianna asks sounding confused. Her eyebrows were knit together and her lips were set in a straight line.

"We...we..." I struggle to connect the sentences, I wasn't exactly sure what to tell her and what to keep to myself, at least for now. We could never be to sure that she wasn't sired so I had to tread lightly.

"A few months ago there was a vampire hunter, his name was Alaric-" I say pausing. Brianna nods, telling me to continue. "-his goal was to kill Klaus, an Original...you know what an Original is right?"

"Aren't they the oldest vampires?" She asks and I nod in response.

"It's not that easy to kill an Original, sure they're vampires but since they've been around for so long they're faster, stronger, and smarter than any being on this planet." Brianna nods again.

"The only way to kill an Original is with a White Oak dagger, a White Oak dagger is the Original's only weakness. Klaus was already being held by the Salvatores when Alaric found him. He stabbed Klaus with the dagger...the Salvatores kept the coffin in which they had Klaus kept in but we were informed that the coffin with his body had disappeared."

"Do you guys know when he disappeared?" Brianna asks. I shake my head.

"No one knows when his body was taken. Someone could have taken it as soon as Alaric killed him."

'You would think they would keep a close eye on the body of one of the oldest vampires." Brianna mutters to herself.

"How are you feeling?" I ask in hopes to turn the discussion elsewhere. Brianna's hand tightens on her neck slightly, she rubs her throat.

"It hurts, I feel like my throat is on fire." She crackles. Her voice was coming out rough and broken. But that was impossible, vervain shouldn't have this type of effect on her, I think to myself. Unless she was more vampire then werewolf, but hybrids were equally both.

"Wait-" Brianna says looking at me again. "-do hybrids need to drink blood?" I shake my head again.

"We heal like humans do but much faster. All we need is food and rest, but in extreme cases vampire blood is used to heal hybrids very quickly."

"Why not use human blood?"

"Human blood does nothing to us. Unlike vampires we don't crave human blood, it hardly even affects us. Vampire blood is used for it's healing qualities, it can repair almost any type of damage done to a human, a werewolf, or to a hybrid." Brianna looks around and I can see the gears in her brain turning. She was trying to fit together all the information I just gave her. A slight tingle spurrs in my chest, it runs down my legs and then comes up my spine and flows through my arms. Pressure slowly builds in my chest and I feel my breath cut, something was wrong, something was definitely wrong. I feel a hand on my shoulder and when I turn I find him giving me an acknowledging look.

"Go-" He says firmly. "-I'll help her." I nod and turn. The pressure begins spreading through my body. I needed to get out of here, and fast. Without bothering to look back I quicken my pace and head towards the door.

Elena POV

I have to cover my nose with my hand as the scent gets stronger.

"I think we're close." I say to Stefan from behind my hand. He nods and I watch as his nose wrinkles in disgust. His eyes scan the forest so fast that I can't track exactly what he's looking at. I look around, the forest seemed perfectly fine. There was leaves covering the ground, they were beginning to brown, fall was just around the corner. I move forward and continue to look around, nothing to seemed out of place, there was fallen logs a few feet away from us but the rest of the area was clear.

"Elena." The tone in Stefan's voice has me turning around in a second. I find him standing ten feet away from me, he was walking around a tree. I rush forward and join his side in a second.

"Wha-" Shock and fear course through me as I find the source of the smell. A small gasp escapes my lips and I feel my throat close, I blink quickly, just to make sure I was seeing what was laying before me. I try to breath in but the air didn't seemed to go through. Damon was leaning against a tree, a wire was wrapped around his throat and was tied behind the tree. Blood was dripping down from the wound on his neck, his hands had nails going through them, they were completely pinned to the ground. His eyes had small stakes gauged through them and blood was pouring down his face. On his chest was a small piece of cardboard, it was pinned to him with a wooden stake. My eyes go over the word written in his blood over and over again, before I finally understand it.

"Consequences"
