Damon POV
The blood in my veins turn into Icy slush as Brianna's words rattle through my brain. A hunter. My father is a vampire hunter. If her father was a vampire hunter then what was she? I stand up and look at Stefan. His features were hard to decipher, but I could tell he wasn't happy. His jaw was clenched and his eyebrows were knit together, the hardness in his eyes gave his emotions away. He meets my gaze and looks away just as quickly. Everything was deathly silent. I swallow and look down, Brianna was looking at the ground avoiding everyone's gaze.
"Your father's a vampire hunter-" Jeremy asks moving closer to Brianna. Jeremy looked...impressed, he walks over and sits on the couch directly in front of Brianna. "-What? Were you a hunter too?" He asks sounding excited. Brianna gives him a tight smile and nods.
"A vampire hunter now becomes a vampire herself-" Brianna says looking at the ground. "-sounds kind of ironic." She says lifting her eyebrows for second. Stefan and I look at each other. This scenario was familiar to us, it had happened before, to Alaric.
"No it's cool." Jeremy says smiling. Brianna looks at him and smiles, she still looked pale and thin, but she was better than before. I let out a breath. This was all becoming more complicated by the second. She was a hunter, so was her father...how many more hunters were out there? Stefan seems to be reading my mind because he suddenly crouches down and looks at Brianna.
"I know you might not want to do this-" He says locking his eyes on Brianna. "-but I need you to tell me everything about your family."
"Why?" Brianna asks.
"We need to know where the danger is, what places to avoid, if your father really is a vampire hunter it's only a matter of time before he comes looking for you...we need to prevent any type of accident from happening because..." Stefan stops mid-sentence. He knows he's said to much.
"Because what?" Brianna asks. There was no going back now.
"Because we have our own little set of vampire hunters here in town-" I reply folding my arms in front of me. "-better known as The town council."
"So what do you use to kill vampires?" Jeremy asks. Stefan, Brianna, and I all stare at him.
"What? Bad timing?" Jeremy asks looking at each of us.
"N-No it's fine-" Brianna stutters "-call us old fashioned but my father always wanted us to take vampires on hand to hand. He said we could use our powers, err, skills to take them out."
"So you would fight vampires without any weapons?" Jeremy asks sounding impressed. Brianna nods.
"We didn't always have time to get our weapons during attacks so we had to fight with just our hands."
"Attacks?" Stefan asks. His eyebrows were knit together and he was staring at Brianna hard. "You guys were attacked?"
"No...we would attack vampires...sometimes we would hear about towns filled with vampires so we would go through the town and kill any vampire we saw..." She explains drifting off.
"How would you know who was a vampire?" Stefan asks.
"We just knew-" Brianna says explaining quickly. "-it's like a sixth sense. We can tell who's a vampire by glance." She sounded nervous. I narrow my eyes and listen as her heartbeat quickens. Her heart was beating quickly as if it wanted to escape out of her chest. Stefan and I look at each other, she was definitely hiding something. Why else would she be nervous?
"Tell me the whole story." Stefan says. It sounding more like a demand than a question. He crosses his arms and stands in front of the fireplace. Everything's silent as we all wait for Brianna to start talking. She swallows and her heart begins beating faster. My gaze flickers towards Stefan. He looks at me but looks away.
"I come from a long line of vampire hunters-" Brianna begins. "-in every generation of my family there has been a hunter. My father and his brothers were trained at a very young age. When they married and had children, their children were also trained to become hunters and so on. Only men are trained to be hunters because that's all that my family has ever had-"
"What do you mean that's all your family has ever had?" Stefan asks.
"There is no women in my family other than my mother and the women my uncles married. Whenever someone in our family has a child it is always a boy. It has been that way for hundreds of generations."
"Then how are you here?" Jeremy asks. Brianna gives a small shrug.
"I'm the only child my parents ever had. My mother could never have another child again...if she did she often had a miscarriage...my father didn't want the training to skip his only child, so he broke the cycle and trained me."
"Broke the cycle?" I ask sounding confused.
"Only men are allowed to become hunters remember? I'm the first female to be trained for hundreds of years." Brianna replies. There's a brief pause as everyone processes this information.
"What type of weapons did your family use?" Stefan asks.
"Stakes and cross-bows with wooden arrows, sometimes the older generations would use swords."
"Swords? For what?" Jeremy asks.
"Beheading." Jeremy turns a light pale color and begins squirming in his seat. I laugh.
"To much information for you Gilbert?" I ask using his last name. Jeremy glares at me. If looks could kill...I'd be dead a long time ago."
"Is that everything?" Stefan asks. Brianna nods. Stefan's phone starts vibrating in his jacket pocket. He meets my gaze before pulling his phone out and looking at the screen.
"It's Elena." He says to no one in particular.
"Hello?" He says putting the phone to his hear.
"Stefan-" Elena says from the other line, she sounded breathless and...scared. "-where are you?"She asks.
"I'm at the boarding house with Jeremy and Damon. We found Brianna now we're just making sure she's okay." Stefan replied. The phone was silent.
"Elena?"
"Yeah?" She replies.
"Where are you?" Stefan asks his eyebrows knitting together.
"At the storage facility where you kept Klaus's body." My whole body immediately tenses. What the hell was she doing at the storage facility? Stefan and I look at each other. Something was definitely going on. He nods at me and we both begin walking towards the door before she says something else. Something that makes my blood run cold.
"Stefan we have a problem-" She sounded frantic. "-Klaus's body is gone."
