*Author's Note*
Hey guys so I wanted to write a quick note here before I give you guys a preview of Chapter 39 of Gifted. I know I have been quiet inconsistent when posting chapters for this book. There is many reasons why but I'm going to give you the main two reasons. The first being that I am almost done with high school and I have a lot of exams and finals to take. I might take college classes during the summer and that might affect me posting chapters, but that is in the future, nothing is decided just yet. The second reason for my inconsistent posting is that I am working on three new books at the moment. I am very excited for each book and I am working very hard to get at least ten to fifteen chapters for each one before I post them. That being said, I have already posted one of them ahead of schedule, it is called 'The Last of Life'. If you guys are into horror/mystery/thriller kind of books then I suggest you go check it out! And even if your not please just go give it a look, I would love to hear all the suggestions and opinions you guys have! So please go check it out and again I wanted to thank every single one of you who have stuck by Gifted even when I hardly posted. You guys don't know how much this really means to me, if I could thank every single one of you personally I would. If you guys would like to get in contact/interact with me you can always find me on Twitter(@SpokenJet) although I have not posted very much(I have no one to talk to :( ) I will make sure to reply to every single one of you. Again thank you for the support and I hope you guys enjoy this preview!

Brianna POV
"So what do you guys do here?" I ask looking around the house. House was an understatement, this place was a freaking mansion. Did everyone in this town live in a mansion? I frown at the thought, this place must be filled with rich people if everyone could afford a house like this.
"No it's not a mansion, and no not everyone lives in one." The older figure speaks as he pushes the hood of his sweater back.
"How did yo-"
"No I can't read minds, well at least not as a human." He replies cutting me off. How did he...?
"What do you mean 'not as a human?' I ask slowly. The figure grins and I notice how his eyes crinkle slightly.
"We're supernatural remember?" He says as he pushes past me. He walks into a room and I can't help but follow. The figure sits down on a cream coloured couch and stares at me. He seemed pretty satisfied with himself while I was standing here confused.
"How do you that I'm-"
"Your a vampire-" A voice answers from behind me. I turn around, the younger figure stood a few feet behind me. He seemed a little uneasy as he steps into the room. "-I can practically smell you across the room." Hurt and embarrassment instinctively flare in my chest. I smelled? Why didn't Elena or Stefan say anything? My eyes widen in embarrassment as I realize that they probably didn't say anything to be nice.
"No not like that-" The younger figure says, noticing the look on my face. "-vampires have a distinctive smell...that and you morphed right in front of me." He adds. I open my mouth and close it again. Every question I had vanishes from my mind and for once I'm left with nothing to say. Silence envelopes the room and the older figure clears his throat.
"So what were you doing hanging around the Salvatore's?" He asks. I turn to face him and think for a second before I respond.
"They were helping me, they...found me...before I changed. I guess I just wanted to stay with them." I say more to myself than to the figure. He nods but something about the look on his face tells me that he's not convinced.
"Are you sure they didn't change you themselves?" The figure asks after a few seconds. The question sends shock radiating through my body. Stefan and Damon wouldn't do that...would they? The memory of Katherine leaning over me flashes through my head. It easily could've been Elena, I shake my head to clear my thoughts. The Salvatore's had taken me in, how could I betray them by thinking these types of things about them?
"I'm sure." I reply hating the way my voice comes out shakily. The figure leans forward on the couch, he places his elbows on his knees and his eyes narrow as he stares at me.
"Do you know who...who changed you?" He asks quietly. My breath freezes in my lungs and a rock forms in the pit of my stomach. I had a really bad feeling about this.
"K-Katherine-" I reply shakily. "-but she's dead." The figure's eyes widen and I see his body tense. I feel a hand on my shoulder and I look to my side. The younger figure was staring at me closely, as if I might vanish before his very eyes. He opens his mouth and closes it. He opens it again and finally speaks.
"Ka...Katherine isn't dead."
