10 Months Earlier
Nia paced around the small room, the suffocation grey box room that she was being held in made her grow more anxious. Of course the one moment she had let her guard down today, was the moment that the guards had caught her red handed.
The Council were currently holding a meeting to discuss what the 16 year old's fate would be. Except Nia wasn't too worried about what was going to happen to her, she was more concerned for her mother. Nia had only committed the crime because she was trying to help her mother, but foolishly the girl hadn't been careful enough and now she was panicking at the thought of her mother waiting in their room for her daughter to come back.
After what felt like hours, the steel door creaked open, a stream of light coming into the grey box. She looked up and let out a sigh of relief as her father walked in, accompanied by one of the guards. "Dad." Nia nuzzled her head into her father's shoulders, the older man wrapping his arms around his daughter whilst trying to stay strong for her.
"How's Mum?" Nia pulled back, staring at him pleadingly.
"Don't worry about her right now." Xavier nodded, trying to smile reassuringly at her but his face contorted into a grimace.
"What are they gonna do about me?" She whispered to him, her eyes flitted to the guard who stood by the door with a blank expression on his face. "Am I going to get floated?"
Xavier shook his head fiercely, "you are not getting floated. They've decided to hold you in the Sky Box until you're eighteen then you'll get a review."
"Then they're gonna float me." Nia breathed out, her father let out a sigh and pulled his daughter back into another tight embrace.
"Nobody is going to float you. They'll have to go through me first." He kissed the crown of her head and the two stayed stood in the middle of the small room holding each other.
The guard who had stood in front of the door cleared his throat, eventually glancing over at the two. "Time's up." Nia frantically looked up at her father who had pulled away from her, his Adam's apple bobbing nervously.
"No..." Nia whimpered as the guard walked towards her. "No!" She screamed, her voice cracking at the thought of being away from her parents, her family, her friends for such a long time. She'd probably get floated in 18 months, she would never see them again.
"Nia, don't fight." Her father warned, shooting a desperate look at the guard who had discreetly brought out a syringe from him pocket. He stabbed the needle in her neck, causing her eyes to roll back and her body to fall into the arms of the guard. The last thing she saw before she collapsed was her father telling her that he loved her.
Present Time
Nia was sat with Raven in her tent, Bellamy had protested and pleaded with her to stay in her own tent until she had gotten back to 100%. "It's just a cut on my arm, I'm fine stop stressing." Nia had rolled her eyes at his constant babying of her since the incident a few days ago but she couldn't help but smile a little at the idea of someone caring for her after such a long time being away from her family and not getting fussed over.
"What's this?" The brunette asked, picking up a small metal object and twisting it around so she could get a better look at it. Raven's arm darted out and snatched the object from her hand, shaking her head as she placed it back in it's original position. "Something that isn't a toy and shouldn't be messed with."
