Long Into An Abyss

[currently unedited - if you see any typos / something's wrong please comment :)]

After nearly three hours of Nia and Bellamy walking through the forest, they almost felt relieved at the sight of their former home poking out from behind the trees. Almost. The two both had their own demons haunting them inside the space station, so that relief they felt was soon disguised with the hate and torment they felt just months ago.

"What if she can't help him?" She spoke for the first time in their journey from the drop ship to Camp Jaha.

Bellamy tensed, that question had been running all throughout his mind during the past few hours, and he still couldn't bring himself to form an answer that he would believe. "She has to." They stepped out from the cover of the trees and walked across the small field that separated them from their camp. Two guards who had been standing watch raised their weapons at the young people. "Stop. Identify yourselves."

Nia suppressed a smile when she heard Bellamy scoff under his breath, "damn idiots." He stopped just outside the gates and glanced up at the guard. "What are you waiting for?" The man was fully decked out in Ark Guard uniform trying to look intimidating, but yet he squirmed under Bellamy's intense gaze. He mumbled a command to another Guard who finally let them inside.

Gravel crushed beneath their feet as they walked along the path searching for Clarke. Nia squinted her eyes curiously at the crowd that gathered outside Alpha Station. Her eyes widened as she realised that Jaha was stood beside Abby at the front of the crowd.

"I thought he was stuck in space." She murmured in surprise, Bellamy followed her gaze and halted his movements once he spotted the man. Nia continued walking, not noticing that he was no longer beside her.

"Bellamy?" She turned around, staring at him bewildered. "Why did you stop?" The man stayed mute, it was as if he was frozen in shock. Nia let out a hum of understanding as she finally put together the pieces. "He cleared you, Bell. You were forgiven."

Bellamy shook his head. "Two months ago, I struggled to pull the trigger to kill a man. And now, I've lost count of how many people I've murdered."

"That's different. You did what you had to do so you could survive down here." Nia gazed up at him sympathetically. Bellamy shook his head quickly, as if he was shaking all the negative thoughts and worries out of his mind. "We need to find Clarke." He was quick to change the subject.

Nia pushed through the crowd, mumbling a few fake apologies as the people around her grumbled in annoyance. Bellamy followed behind her, his tall frame making it easier for him to spot the blonde amidst the crowd. "She's over there." He exclaimed, trying to make his voice heard above the various shouts around them. He grabbed her arm and pulled her in his direction, this time not bothering to say sorry as they shoved past shoulders and stepped on feet.

"Hey. Where have you two been?" Clarke spoke, Bellamy had grabbed her upper arm to alert her of their presence and now she stood watching the two curiously.

"In the dropship. You need to come back with us right now." He dropped his hand from her arm. Nia gave a short nod to Finn, a silent hello even though she wasn't all that pleased to see him.

Clarke grew concerned at Bellamy's request. "Why? What's happened?"

"I'll explain on the way. Bring your med kit; meet me at Raven's gate."

The three walked along the familiar path back to the drop ship. "He's a reaper? How did that even happen?" Clarke exclaimed in shock.

"We don't know. We just found him in an underground garage.." Nia's voice trailed off as she remembered the dead bodies of Sgt. Scott and his friend, and Lincoln knelt beside them with their blood on his face.
