Chapter 10

Lainey Blake
I rub my eyes and open them. My vision are blurry at first then slowly my vision is turning clearer. I look around my surroundings. Its completely nothing. None. Its just me. l realize I'm still in my muddy clothes. My eyes widen. Where's Dad? Where's Alan? Where's Ellie?Where's Ian? Where's John Hammond? Where's Lex? Where's Tim?

I call out their names.
"DAD!"

"ALAN!"

"ELLIE!"

"IAN!"

"MR.HAMMOND!"

"LEX!"

"TIM!"

"HELLO?! IS ANYONE HERE?!!"

I sigh then wince because of my foot. I felt dizzy a bit. Why am I here? I thought I was on top of the fence with Tim. I brought my knees to my chest. This silence is killing me.

"Lainey." a lady voice call me. I look up and my jaw is on the floor. Its not only any voice. Its Mum's voice and she is standing right in front of me, wearing a nice white dress instead of the Army uniform she always wear and smiling wide at me.

"Mum." I breath out in surprise. Here I am with my Mum,look dirty like homeless people while my Mum look like an angel.

"It's me, sweetie. I miss you."

Hearing her said that makes me want to cry and hug her.

That's what I did. I let the tears streaming out from face not bothering to wipe them off and hug her. Mum just giggle at me before wrapping me in her arms.

"I miss you." I said, looking up at her. Her face is clean, with no scratch and blood unlike me. Mum wipe the tears from my cheeks. "I miss you too. I miss 10 years of your life and look at you now. Growing up to a beautiful girl like I always thought." she smile.

"Dad. He miss you too. He's a famous paleontologist now."

"Yes, I know. I watch both of you from above and I'm so proud of him. Tell him that, baby girl. But now,you need to go back to him."

I frown. "Why? We need you. He need you. I need you."

"Because, your father promised to me he'll take good care of you when I went to Afghanistan 10 years ago. If you die, he'll be so devastated. You mean a lot to him like I mean a lot to him."

"Both of you means a lot to me!"

"I know that Lainey but remember, he needs your support. Even you promised to him right?" Mum said softly.

"Yeah, I always do. But if I go to him, then I'll leave you!" I said shakily, more tears streaming.

"Shh...shh...sweetie." Mum stroke my hair gently like she used to when I was younger. "You'll never leave me. Because I'll always be up here, watching both of you. And I'll always be in your heart. Tell your Dad that I always love him."

I hug her tightly. "Will do. So is this a goodbye?"

"No, its not. I always watch you. One more thing."

"What?"

"Read the book I gave you when you turn 5."

"The thick one?"

"I'm planning to after the trip." I smile at her. I turn around and walk away and heard her call my name.

"Lainey!"

Again, I turn around to her. I couldn't take it anymore. I ran to her and hug her tightly for the last time. "I love you, Lainey."

"I love you too, Mum." I smile at her.

"Now go to your father." She wave goodbye at me. I wave her back and kept running.

I blink my eyes open and cough loudly, desperate need of oxygen. I kept coughing until someone pats my back. "Thank goodness you're still alive." Dad pull me into a hug. I hug him back. I saw his body shaking and I saw him cry. "I thought I was gonna lose you too." he said quietly. I pull away from the hug. He kneel down in front of me. "I met Mum." I croak quietly.

"What did she said to you?"

"You mean lot to her and she always love you."

"Oh, I love her always Lainey."

"Lainey!"

Lex and Alan knelt down next to us. "You okay?" Alan ask. "Fine." I said hoarsely. "We thought you and Tim are not gonna make it. Shane repeatedly doing CPR to you." Lex said, wiping her tears. "There is no way I'm gonna die easily." Everyone laugh.

"We better keep moving."Alan said. "Can you walk?"  Dad ask. I shake my head. "I can't feel my anything."
"I'll carry you."

"Okay, I need a few minutes."

I pull off my bandanna and tied it around my head. Dad knelt down in front of me. I wrap my arms around his neck and Dad wrap my legs around his waist. "Like the old times." Dad chuckles. I lean my head at his shoulder.

"Is it weird if I said that I really miss a building in front of me?"

"Nope."

"Well let's get in."

"Hello?" Alan call out at the visitor center but nobody responded.

Alan, Dad and Lex walking towards the dining room, me and Tim being carried. Alan put Tim down on the table while Dad put me down on a chair. Alan chuckle and ruffles Tim's wild hair. "Big Tim, a human piece of toast."

Dad pinch my cheeks. "Your hair looks like you've using way too much hairspray." I smile at him. "We need to find help. I'll go out with Shane to find someone." Alan said.

Lex shake her head and hold Alan's hand. "We have to. We'll be gone for a while." I grab Dad's hand and shake my head to him. "Hey, Alan and I'll with be back with help. I promise. Lex and Tim need you. Keep an eye at them, okay?" I nod my head. Dad kiss my cheeks and left the dining room with Alan.

I took a seat next to Lex and Tim.Lex and Tim smile at me. I smile back.Tim hop down, limping to a table. A table with lots of food. Tim look at us and grins widely.

We grab everything we want, Lex grab the vegetables and Tim grabs desserts while I grab the vegetables and meats.
I bite on my chicken and took a sip of water. Tim smile cheekily at us, we smile at him back. I sit next to Tim, Lex a few chairs from us. Lex hold a spoonful of jelly. She was about to put it in her mouth when she saw something and the spoon was shaking so bad. Tim and I stop eating and look behind us.

I saw a shadow. A shadow of a real life Velociraptor at the Velociraptor mural on the wall and the raptor is sneering and growling. My breath hitched in my throat. Tim gasped. I got up from my seat and carry Tim. Lex already up and grabs my free hand and lead us to the kitchen.
