I know why the caged bird sings.
It's happy;
it sees the world through closed eyes,
It only sees a few feet in front of it,
not the future.
It is content to simply be.
I know why the caged bird does not want to escape.
It thinks it has everything;
shelter, food, safety, and a little bit of companionship;
but it does not have adventure, happiness, or freedom.
And that is more important than being safe and content.
I know why the caged bird will die.
It will wither away, dreaming of "what if".
It will regret doing nothing,
becoming nothing,
as it closes its eyes,
one last time.
Do not become the caged bird.
