The universe threw obstacles at the man,
he dodged, jumped, and slid.
The universe moaned and sighed,
as the man laughed and hollered.
The universe burdened the man with weights,
as the man gladly carried them.
The universe gave the man the greatest test of all: time.
The man watched in horror as his family and friends withered away.
The universe thought it had won,
but it did not.
The man pulled through by telling himself they lived on forever,
in his heart.
The universe wept, knowing it had lost.
The man was triumphant as it climbed on top of the universe.
The man was the master of his own fate;
he was the captain of his soul.
