Dillon
“Dillon, wake up,” Mandi said. She was shaking my shoulder
trying to get me to wake up. “Come on, they’re going to be releasing
me soon.”
I jumped out of the chair I had fallen asleep in.
“Mandi, I am so sorry,” I told her. “I never meant to fall asleep.”
“I’m pretty sure that you fell asleep after I did so don’t worry
about it,” she replied.
“So when did you say that they’re going to let you out,” I asked
her.
“Sometime in the next hour or so,” she answered. “Dr. Bradshaw
is supposed to be coming to talk to me first, though. Dillon, I
think that they’re going to put me on bed rest for at least a week.”
“But you’ll miss school,” I pointed out.
“I know that, silly,” she laughed.
“Good morning, Mandi,” Dr. Bradshaw said as she entered the
room. “How are you feeling?”
“I have a headache, but that’s about it,” Mandi answered.
“Okay,” Dr. Bradshaw said. “As you most likely know already,
you’re going to be released soon. Although, the bad news is that
you will have to be put on bed rest for the week. Now, before you
protest your mom already called the school and told them that you
won’t be there. They told her that they would gather what little
homework you will need and then she’s supposed to be picking it
up later. We’ll set up an appointment for a week from today. How
does that sound?”
“It sounds okay, can I leave now,” Mandi asked impatiently.
“Yes, I will tell your mom that you’re ready to leave and she
should be in here in a couple of minutes,” Dr. Bradshaw said.
“Wait, is she still working,” Mandi asked.
“Yeah, why,” Dr. Bradshaw asked in return.
“If she’s working then I’m pretty sure Dillon wouldn’t mind
giving me a ride home,” Mandi explained.
“You’ll have to talk that over with your mom,” Dr. Bradshaw
replied. “I’ll send her in as soon as I can.”
“Okay,” Mandi sighed.

“Are you sure your mom is going to let me take your home,
Dillon asked me uncertainly.
“She should,” I answered. “Do you not think she will?”
“Seeing as to what happened last night, I highly doubt it,”
