“Dude, have you heard any of the rumors that are going around about you and
Mandi,” Josh asked me between our third and fourth hour.
“No, what are people saying,” I asked.
“It’s because of what happened at Tyler’s party, but they think that you drugged
Mandi so that you could rape her but then you freaked out when she passed
out,” Josh summed up.
“What,” I shouted, “that’s bogus. I would never rape anybody; I’m not like that.”
“I know that, but that’s jus what the people are saying,” he said.
“Do you think Mandi’s heard about it or any of the other rumors,” I asked.
“My guess is that most likely she has, but there might still be a slight chance she
hasn’t,” he answered.
“God, I hope not,” I sighed rubbing the back of my neck. “She doesn’t need to be
stressing over something as stupid as rumors.”
“Neither do you,” he told me. “There just stupid people thinking that their cool
cause they finally have rumors that they can spread about you. Although, if I
were you I’d go make sure that coach doesn’t think the same thing as these
people do.”
“Yeah, I’ll do that later,” I said. “For now, though, I have to go do something. If
class gets out before I’m back text me but tell Mandi I’ll pick her up for lunch.”
“Where are you going?”
“I have to talk to my dad about something, I’ll be back,” I said before leaving.
“Okay then,” I heard Josh say quietly before I was out of hearing distance.
I was really going to talk to my dad about something, but first I was going to pick
up some roses and chocolate for Mandi then I remembered that I didn’t have any
money so I needed to go home first. I sure hoped that she hadn’t heard the
rumors yet.
I took out my phone and dialed my dad’s phone number.
“What’s up, son,” he answered on the fourth ring.
“Are you home or at the office,” I asked him.
“I’m actually home for once, what do you need?”
“I’m going to swing by I need to talk to you about something,” I told him.
“Okay, but aren’t you supposed to be in school right now?”
“Forget that, I’ll talk to you when I get home, bye,” I said hanging up the phone.
A few minutes later I arrived at my house. I hopped out of my car and ran inside.
