Mandi
“Let’s get this done and over with so that I can get food and sleep,” I said
getting out of my car.
Just Dillon had come with me to my seventh month checkup since my mom
had claimed that she had to get some sleep before she had to work.
Although, she’d assured me that she would talk to Dr. Bradshaw later
about what had all happened.
“Are you okay,” Dillon asked as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be,” I asked confusedly.
“Hello, it’s the middle of the winter and you’re in a tank top and capris
without even a light jacket,” I answered. “I mean, even I am wearing a
jacket.”
“Yeah, but you don’t have extra body heat,” I replied. “Plus, it’s Phoenix
so it’s not that cold.”
“I’m still cold enough,” he said opening the clinic door for me.
“Whatever,” I laughed.
I walked up to the front desk to check in and they told me to sit down and
that they’d be with me shortly.
“Ugh, this place gives me the creeps,” Dillon said under his breath.
“You don’t have to be here and you know that,” I told him.
“no, you need someone from your small support group and right now it
seems like I’m the only one available,” he said like it was no big deal.
To me it was kind of a big deal. I mean, it wasn’t like he was the babies
dad so he didn’t have to be at all of my doctors appointments. It wasn’t
like I was complaining it was just the fact that he tried to take on so much
responsibility even though the babies aren’t his.
“If you say so,” I sighed shaking my head to clear my thoughts.
“Mandi Williams,” the nurse called holding the door that led to the back
part of the clinic open for me.
Dillon helped me stand up and I waddled over to where the nurse was.
“How are you feeling today,” she asked as she weighed me.
“Tired and my feet are killing me already,” I complained with a little laugh.
“Well, that’s normal,” she laughed as she led Dillon and me to a room. “Just
wait here and Dr. Bradshaw will be here in just a minute.”
“Are your feet swollen,” Dillon asked me once the nurse left.
He never really talked to me when nurses around me.
