The whole night. The whole night all I could think about was what Katherine had said to me. I am so confused. What dis she mean, 'trying to keep you alive'?

But more importantly, is Jason alive? I didn't see his name last night, so that suggests that he is. But where? There are only so many places he could be in this tiny arena.

"Jasmine?" Katherine asks. "I've watched you since the early hours of the morning, you haven't slept."

"I did," I tell her. "Lukas and I both drifted off, but my sleep didn't last very long."

"Nightmare?"

I resist my reply for a second, but I give her a warm smile and say "something like that."

Aaron and I have decided to take a hunt. We don't wander off too far though - only fifty meters in a circular radius. I take out a rabbit and a badger, although we leave the badger I killed and I take my arrow back out of its leg. I mean come on, I'm going to need that.

Aaron says my name, quietly but loud enough for me to hear it.

"Don't," I say firmly. I don't want to hear it, I don't want to fall in love and be torn between my brother and Aaron. "Let's head back, get Katherine and return to the cornucopia."

"Why would we do that?" Aaron asks.

"Well, I think eight tributes have died, we know Nathaniel is still alive-"

Two cannons sound simultaneous.

"Okay, so ten tributes have fallen -" I'm interrupted, again.

"Why don't you quit whilst you're ahead Jas?" Aaron says, quite angrily.

"What do you mean?" I ask

"You have three people, willing to give their own lives in order to save you. Why would we ever need to go back to that wretched place?" He continues, "sometimes you can be so ungrateful."

I look at him in disgust.

"I don't see Lukas giving his life to save mine."

He laughs at me, "Jason would."

This instantly makes my blood boil. "And, umm..." Clearing my throat. "Where is he?"

Aaron turns away from me and begins walking back to the tree that we have made camp in.

"Aaron!"

He throws his middle finger up to me, still with his back turned and walking to the tree.

"So much for having a crush on me," I shout.

Aaron stops walking. Like he's stuck in his tracks. "Who told you that?"

I don't answer him. I walk straight past him, to the tree and climb up. I throw the rabbit into Katherine's arms. "You can cook it, I'm going to find Jason and get myself some supplies. I'm going solo." I say, then I climb back out of the tree and head south. I have to find the cornucopia. I need supplies. I need Jason.

As I'm walking, and firm hand grabs my arm.

"Don't you dare." It's his voice. My body freezes. How could it be? How did I not realize?
