Chapter 11, where John cries and so do I

Don't worry, we cry for different reasons, as for me well... This is my third time rewriting this. And you'll just have to read to find out why John cries. ;)

Sorry it's taken me so long to update my life has been really crazy and I haven't found the time!!

John pov

I ran into the waiting room and I immediately saw Peggy talking to one of the employees.
"What the heck??" I cried and stormed up to her. "Burr said you were in the hospital!!"
Peggy turned to face me and shrugged. "I am in the hospital," she said with a smile. "Just not a patient."
As Peggy talked the others caught up to us mumbling different versions of "oh thank god".
I felt fury build up behind my eyes and I took a deep breath, trying to stop the tears but it didn't work. I let out a heavy breath and the tears spilled out.
"I-I," I stuttered and then rested my head on her shoulder. "I-I thought that you..."
She took a small breath and whispered, "oh." She wrapped her arms around me and gently hushed my sobs.
"I'm sorry my dude... I didn't mean to scare you," she said softly.
I sniffled and shook my head, laughing lightly. "You suck," I whispered through my tears.
Peggy let out a strong laugh and patted my back. "Oh, hon, you have no idea."
I pulled back, wiping my eyes. "Sorry," I whispered with a small smile.
Peggy shrugged.

Third person pov

Not even a moment later the hospital doors burst open and Maria, Eliza, and Angelica run in.
"wHERE THE FUCK IS MY SISTER," Angelica screeched.
Immediately they all moved aside so they can see her.
"Baby!" Maria cries in relief and runs up, embracing her.
"Oh thank god," Eliza sighed and smoothly glided over to Peggy and Maria, who pull away from each other so Eliza can peck Peggy's forehead.
Then silence filled the room as everyone waiting to see Angelica's reaction.
She took a shaky breath then let out a cry, "Margarita Schuyler!! How DARE you scare us like that!!" She stormed across the room and forcefully pulled pulled her into a hug.
"You gave me a bloody heart attack," she growled, running her fingers through Peggy's hair.
"Sorry," Peggy said with a soft smile. Then she mouthed to John, "see I really do suck." John smiled and rolled his eyes.
Finally everybody calmed down and sat down in the waiting chairs and some on the floor.
Peggy turned to Alex and asked him to go get Aaron from where he was hiding from everyone's supposed wrath-the men's bathroom.
When they got back Peggy clapped her hands together Ann's said, "Alrighty. So, what's new with all of you?"
"Uhh... You brought us here in a panic to talk about what's new with our lives?" Alex asked in confusion.
Peggy shrugged in response.
Alex sighed. "Well Laf is nonbinary."
Laf's face went red as Peggy whooped, Angelica, Eliza, and Maria clapped, and Aaron said, "good for you".
"Ah, my friends, it is no, how you say, biggie," Laf responded with a waved of their hand.
"Babe, of course it's a big deal!" Herc cried, throwing his arms around Laf and hugging them.
"It's an important part about who you are!"
Laf laughed and hugged him back whispering their thanks.
Peggy sighed. "That's great. Anything else?" She looked purposefully at John and Alex who were sitting next to each other, their knees just brushing.
Alex leaned into John and whispered, "Why is she making that face?"
John blushed, and looked down, shrugging.
Alex sighed and pulled back. "Pegs, why are you making that face at us??"
Peggy's face dropped and she huffed, "No reason."
Burr spoke up next, "I read through three books this week."
Semi awkward silence filled the room.
Then Eliza cleared her throat. "Angelica went on a date."
Peggy gasped, "Omg! How did I not know about this!! With who??! When?!! Where'd they take you?!?!"
Angelica blushed and tried to wave it off, "It was just a study date... Nothing special."
Peggy and Maria were leaning out of their seats towards Angelica.
Angelica sighed. "It was with John Church. He's pretty smart, and funny," she smiled gently and looked down, her cheeks turning a shade darker than her natural brown.
"Was there kissing?" Maria questioned.
Angelica's head shot up. "No!!"
Maria giggled, "Just asking."
She huffed, "Well there was no kissing."
As Maria snickered Peggy looked around, noticing that people were starting to give them weird looks.
"Erm..." She cleared her throat, "Hey guys, there's a Denney's a block away, how's about we finish catching up over there?"
There was a general nodding off agreement and they got up to go. But right before John could leave Peggy grabbed his arm.
"You said you'd ask him out!" She whined.
John blushed and looked down, biting his lip. "I... I was going to but we didn't really... Get the chance."
Peggy huffed again, stomping her foot this time. "You've got to be kidding me." She grabbed John's chin, making him look at her.
"You have nothing to worry about, I assure you, he is into you."
John nodded, straightening. "Okay. I'll tell ask him out, but give me some time. I want the moment to be right." Then he turned and walked out.
Peggy rolled her eyes, mumbling, "You've had the perfect moment. Several in fact."
