Jace POV:
"Alec, keep still." I replied, as gently as I could.
I traced an iratze onto his shoulder.
Recently, Alec had woken up, out of the coma.
He had first said Magnus's name, knowing he was present.
After the run in with Maryse, though, Alec was in pain. Pain that hurt him mentally. It drove me insane at night, feeling my parabatai's pain. I could hear his screams and cries from across the hallway. He had been doing the same every night, for the past two weeks.
In the morning, I heard a loud crash of glass smashing.
I ran into his room, finding a massacre scene. Glass fragments with small blood drops lay around the bed where Alec had managed to throw a glass of water.
Maryse came running, crying out curses to Magnus for causing this.
I rolled my eyes, knowing how stupid she sounded.
"Maryse, I need a word." I clenched my jaw,
Alec had only recovered partially, being able to speak short sentences, though taking a lot of energy. He was able to move his arms and legs, though it hurt to do so, and took a lot of energy.
I left Alec to recover from his bleeding palm from the shattered glass.
I stepped outside, Maryse standing, waiting.
"Make this quick, I need to go."
"Maryse, you and Robert, you're both going to idris, leaving the institute in need of control. Alec would usually step up, but he is.. unable to do so. Therefore, I wish to stand in his place, temporarily."
Maryse raised her eyebrow,
"Jace, I can't-"
"Please. I am the next oldest shadowhunter, beside Alec here, and the best soldier. I understand the role, the duties, the pressure."

She made a face, as if to show she was thinking.
"Okay, fine." She confirmed,
I let out a smile and thanked her. She walked away, leaving to go to idris, tonight.
I rushed back into the room and told Alec the news.
"Great, you are taking my job. How is that I'm anyway a positive thing?"
"Because, it means I am in control of who enters the institute."
"Magnus?"
"Exactly."

I saw a smile play on his lips, lingering, before he returned to his expressionless face. He was still in pain, and he was unable to open his eyes and taste anything.

Magnus POV:
I sighed, rolling over in bed. 2 weeks. 2 weeks since I last saw him. He could be alive and well, or he could be dead, all because Maryse wouldn't let me in, meaning no healing spell.

I felt tired. I looked tired. I had bags under my eyes and my skin, paler. I hadn't eaten much, my clothes becoming more loose.
I heard a knock on the front door. I slowly made my way over there, unaware of the possibility that it could be Alec. I opened the door, hoping to see the handsome, tough shadowhunter I loved, his eyes glistening.
But it wasn't.
It was Jace.
Just Jace.
"Jace, stop coming over here. You'll only get hurt for seeing the oh-so evil, manipulative, heartless warlock." I responded with air quotes.
"Magnus, Maryse is in idris. She left me in charge, so I took down the ban against you. You are free to visit him." He grinned,
I felt like I had been slapped in the face. Not a bad feeling, more like slapped in the face with glitter from Alec who dressed as a fairy. And may I say, a very cute fairy.
"Jace, I love you."
He looked shocked,
"No! Not like that. I mean it like, how do I repay for this?"
"You can repay me by seeing Alec."

We rushed out the door and ran towards the institute. I needed to save my energy if I was to fully heal Alec.
"H-how is he?"
"Broken. Miserable. Dead. Magnus, in these last two weeks, he has been crying and shouting, shouting for you, in his sleep."
"Alec.." I whispered, "Maryse is so going to die."
We ran up through the institute, up the stairs and into his room. I barged through, seeing izzy and Simon all crowded round.
"He's asleep right now." Simon pointed out,
"I'll do the healing spell. It could help to rush his health back to normal."
"Magnus?"
He whispered, his voice clear, the same voice I have heard. The healthy, beautiful, strong voice.
"Alexander.."
He didn't say anything more, but I felt his hand sweep under the covers. I looked down and saw he had grabbed my hand, entangling his fingers into mine.
He smiled. A simple, happy smile.
I loved seeing him alive, awake, better, but he wasn't completely recovered. I could sense the pain, the clenching teeth as he moved.
His eyes still remained closed, hiding his beautiful eyes.
Everyone left the room as i performed a healing spell.
"Magnus?"
"Shh.. don't speak."
"Magnus, I couldn't bear the last few weeks." He ignored my instructions,
"Neither could I.."
"Magnus?"
"Yes?"
"I hate my mom."
I chuckled, whilst he smiled.
He looked amazing as always, though different. I saw his beaming smile, his dimples, his long, grown hair. But his eyes, his starry eyes.
"I wish I could see your eyes that glistened like stars." I sighed,
I felt him tense. His jaw clenched shut,
"Alec, is something wron-"
Simon and Jace came storming through,
"We presumed that the spell was finished and we wanted-"
"Wanted to ruin a moment? Cause you all do that anyway." I rolled my eyes,
I heard Alec quietly laugh beside me.
"Everything will heal up soon, you just need some rest. Tomorrow morning you'll be fine and healthy." I turned to the others, "We should leave him so he can have rest."
I noticed everyone, their details in their faces coming clearer. They all looked tired and stressed out, though Jace was the worst. He had swollen eyes and bags under them. His hair was messy and dirty, his smile weak. He did not look good.
Everyone left to go do whatever they were needing to do. Jace walked away but I grabbed him by the arm.
"Ow! Hey, what was that for?" He spun around,
"I know you're thinking about Clary."
I saw his face pale, his eyes grow bigger.
"I'm sorry for what has happened. But she's not dead, nor is Alec."
"You don't know that. It's not like we can feel it."
"If it is Valentine that is with her, then he won't hurt her."
"But the warlock said it was the son that is causing the uprise. Magnus, we never resolved the problem of who the son is."
"I know. I'll call Luke-"
"I'm here."
We spun around and saw him walking towards us,
"Magnus, I knew you would be here. We need a tracking spell."
"I've tried. It gets blocked, something tells me that they don't want to be found."
"Well, we can't just lie around!" He barked,
"I know, I know. Keep your voice down. Luke, we want to know everything about Valentines son."
He made a face, thinking whether or not to say. He sighed and pulled us into Alec's room.
Alec was already sleeping, and I know he's a deep sleeper so he won't hear us.
"Jocelyn and Valentine had a son. But the son, Jonathon."
"Jonathon Christopher, JC." Jace explained,
"Jonathon, he wasn't- he's not- something was wrong with him. He was evil and violent, Jocelyn was scared of him. She cried, she only wanted to change him. She left him with Valentine, but when she returned, the house was burning. We thought that he died, along with Valentine."
"Why didn't you tell us this?" Jace demanded,
"Oh really? If you told us sooner that you weren't his son, maybe we could of found clary!" Luke shouted,
I heard Alec stir awake
"Keep your voices down. There is no point fighting over 'who started it' and 'its not fair'" I spoke, imitating a child's behaviour, "We will find her. I will keep trying to track her. For the time being, though, you two need to stop fighting like children and grow up."
They bowed their heads, guilty and walked out the door.
I sighed and began trying to track clary.
