Magnus POV:
Pain. Agony. Alone.

I looked up, staring at the dark crimson red sky.
The area reeked of blood and sweat: death and destruction.
I tried to sit up but I felt chains around my wrists pull me back.
I hissed in pain.

I looked down, my clothes drenched in blood; chains snaked around my ankles.

I looked up, searching the area; a cemetery?
I sat on a broken column, the floor surrounded by shattered bricks and stones.
In the distance I could see broken gravestones, ivy swallowing it into a infested garden.

"You're awake."

My eyes flickered up, looking at the devil.

"Sebastian." I spat.
"I'm sorry about your sister." He knelt down beside me, a smirk plastered on his lips, "And your lover."

Alec.

"What did you do?! Where is he?" I snapped, trying to pull my arms up.
I wanted to suffocate him; watch his last breathes float out of him. But the damn, rusty chains stopped me.

"He is okay. Magnus, I need you to do something for me." He stood up.
"I wouldn't do anything for you." I spat.
I lifted my head up, trying to pull free- the chains were too tight. I fell back, my head hitting the strong column. I hissed in pain.
A headache slowly grew.

"You will do as I say." Sebastian roared, his foot stepping on my chest, knocking the breath out of my lungs, "If you don't— I will hurt him. I will kill your beloved Alexander."
"No." My face paled,
"Then do as I say!" He cackled.
I hesitated, "F-fine... just- don't hurt him."
"Good." He brought a sword out from his weapon belt. He lowered it.

The chains around my wrists broke free.
I moved my hands, tensing and clenching them.
"What do you want me to do?" I sat up.
"I want a book." He looked smug, "the mortal book."

The hairs on my body stood up.
This wasn't good.

Third person POV:

Jace slammed his fist down on the table. He repeated until he heard his knuckles break.

"Jace, please-- what happened? Tell us!" Clary whimpered, pulling Jace away from the table.

Simon, Izzy, Clary and Jace had all gathered in the head office.

"Has anyone checked on Alec?" Isabelle whispered, tapping her foot against the floor. Alec was awfully quiet in his room. Maybe he is asleep?

"No. We have bigger problems right now." Jace huffed, running his hand through his hair.

"What do you mean?" Isabelle furrowed her eyebrows.
"Sebastian- he sent another note. It had blood on it- it lead to Magnus-"
"We have to go now then!" Clary gasped, moving towards the door.

Jace pulled her back, "No. we can't."
"W-what?" Clary stuttered.

"I mean- The note... it mentioned the mortal book."
"The mortal book?" Clary raised her eyebrow.

Jace and Isabelle shared a look. A look of recognition and fear.

"Why does everything have to have the word mortal in it?" Simon muttered, resulting in a punch in the stomach- granted by Isabelle.
