The Return of Flambeau (#2 in the series)

A morning walk

I woke up to a whining dragon, as he pulled the covers off of me. I tried to pull the covers back, but I lost and gave in.

"Alright bud you win, let's go for our morning walk". I said getting out of bed to get changed.

Toothless got excited. After that I went downstairs, nobody was here yet so we decided to leave. We walked to the woods, as Toothless sprinted ahead.

"Toothless". I called. "Don't go to far".

He understood me and slowed down, as we walked through the woods the air seemed to warm up. I was still half asleep but the walk was beginning to wake me.

10 minutes or so later
We were still walking through the woods. I told Toothless to stop and take a break now.

"Sugar". I said, Toothless looked at me. "I shouldn't have left a note saying we were going to be out for a bit".

Toothless made a small roar. "Maybe you should of, because they might be wondering where we are".

I sat there for a little longer before getting up to walk back. Suddenly I  heard a twig snap. Toothless's ears prickled up, I whipped my head around but I couldn't see anyone.

"Hello". I said.

But there was no reply, I continued walking the dragon started to growl.

"Toothless, there nothing to growl at it was probably a deer or something". I said.

That's when I knew I was wrong. It went to quick for me to see, to quick for me to act. I got whacked on the back of the head, really hard, which caused me to fall to the ground, as the world around me went black.

Toothless's P.O.V
I stood there with mixed emotions, right now I was feeling scared, worried and angry all at the same time.

I looked to see who it was, but there was no one there. 'Who could have done this'. I thought to myself.

'Show yourself'. Was what I meant when I roared, and there was no reply.

I went to nudge her to see if she was awake, or alive but she was lifeless. Now this was scary, she can't be dead she couldn't be that hit wasn't strong enough to kill her.

I went and did what any friend would do, which was run back to the presbytery as fast as I could.

Some time later
It was tiring but I made it there and burst into the door, to find Father Brown, Sid and Mrs McCarthy.

"Toothless?". The father asked. "Where have you been?".

'No time to explain'. I thought.

"He looks exhausted, like he's been running". Mrs McCarthy noticed.

I went to Sid to tug on his trousers leg, then roared to tell him to follow.

"Toothless, what got in to you?". He asked.

"I think he wants us to follow him". The  Father suggested.

I nodded in agreement, finally they got it. Sid got up as well as the others. I ran out of the door to the woods.

"Toothless wait up". I heard Sid shout, but I kept running.

Some more time later
We all made it to were she was, luckily the attacker had not moved her. I stopped to nudge her to see if she was alright but I still didn't get a response.

Sid was the first to catch up, he gasped when he saw her.

"Who did this, I'm going to kill whoever did this". Sid said crouching down to check her.

I rolled my eyes, Sid was acting a bit over protective. The other two caught up.

"Jesus, Mary, and Joseph". Mrs McCarthy said crossing her heart. "The poor soul.

"Now Mrs M let's not think the worst". Father Brown said. "What happened". He asked.

I would try and tell them but I know they wouldn't understand me, so I whimpered.

"She not dead, she breathing". Sid said.

"Unconscious?". Mrs McCarthy asked.

"I think she got knocked out by something". Sid said.

"Sid you carry her back to the house, and I'll call for the hospital". The Father ordered.

Sid picked her up, and carried her back, we followed. I'm glad she is alive but what hit her? And who did it?

"She'll be fine, Toothless don't you worry". Father Brown said reassuringly.

But I still didn't like it, there were so many questions that I wanted answered, and I knew I was going to have to wait for the answers.
