keaton's pov
I woke up with the sun shining in through my bedroom window, memories from the night before flooding back into my mind. Noelle was curled up in my arms and I never felt more complete in my life. I sighed and closed my eyes again, hoping to drift off back to sleep since she hadn't woken up yet. My phone vibrating on my bedside table, woke me out of my half-asleep state. I yawned and strategically separated myself from Noelle. I sat on the edge of the bed to unlock my phone.
the other night was fun! we should do it again ;)
I groaned, a little too loudly because Noelle stirred awake behind me. I quickly locked my phone and set it to the side. I did not need her seeing that text from Sam. Why did I even give her my number last year anyway?
"What's wrong?" she asked, sleepily. I layed back down beside her and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Absoluetly nothing, Elle."
"I like it when you call me that," she smiled.
"I think it has a nice ring to it," I nodded. "So what are we going to do today? I do have work later."
She stuck out her bottom lip in a pout. "Do you have to? It seems like you work all the time."
"We can't all be like you and get everything handed to us," I joked.
"Hey!" she punched me in the arm. I rubbed the spot that she hit, faking that it hurt. "That did not hurt!"
I ignored her comment and said, "But really. What should we do?"
She shrugged. "Maybe just go get lunch before your shift? Food is always a good option."
I stood up and walked toward the door. "Ok, but I'm gonna go take a shower quick. Do you mind waiting in here?"
She shook her head and snuggled into the sheets. All I could hope for was that we didn't run into Sam in town.

I decided to brush off why Keaton was acting weird and sleep for a bit longer. I was almost back asleep when his phone vibrated on the bed, but I ignored it and turned over. When it vibrated for the third time, I sat up and dug around the sheets to find the stupid thing. There was no way I was going to sleep with that thing vibrating every two seconds, so I was going to put it on silent. When I slid the button over the screen lit up and I noticed all of the messages were from Sam. I threw his phone back on the bed and fell back on his bed in disgust. Why was that bitch texting my boyfriend?
Keaton emerged from the bathroom with a towel slung around his waist, exposing his toned stomach. He dried off his hair with a smaller towel. "You alright, Elle?"
"Don't call me that!"
He lowered his arms to his sides, the towel dangling from his fingers. "What happened while I was in the shower?" he asked slowly, approaching the bed.
I curled into a ball and faced in the opposite direction as I struggled to reach across the bed to grab his phone. I threw it at the floor in his direction, making sure to miss him.
"What was that?" he yelled, backing out of the way.
"You have plenty of messages. All from your secret girlfriend."
He reached to grab his phone and opened the messages. "What the hell, Noelle? We already discussed this. I'm not with her. Why did you even have my phone in the first place?"
I couldn't help but burst out laughing at the fact that my name rhymes with "hell" and the way it sounded when he yelled it out.
"What's so funny?" he demanded, his arms stretched out wide.
I covered my mouth, trying to stop. "Nothing, sorry." He came over to the bed and sat down. "Your phone kept vibrating so I put it on silent because I was trying to sleep. The screen lit up and I saw that all of the messages were from her." I sighed. I knew I shouldn't have gotten mad but she was texting him constantly.
"I'm sorry, Noelle. I haven't responded to any of her texts since we've been together if that makes you feel any better. I'll talk to her today at work and let her know that I don't want to talk to her outside of work."
"Keaton, that's stupid," I sighed. I didn't want to be that girlfriend. Keaton should be able to talk to girls without me getting super jealous about it.
"I can see it's upsetting you though and honestly, she does have a crush on me."
"Who's being cocky, huh?" I raised my eyebrows at him. He shoved me a little at my joke. "I'm kidding. I know she does. It was completely obvious the other day, but I still don't think you should tell her straight out that she can only talk to you at work. Just tell her that you have a girlfriend and she doesn't have a chance with you. I know you said Skylar talked to her, but I think if it comes from you she might believe it more."
He nodded. "Ok, I'll try. Let me get dressed and we can go get that lunch."
I nodded. "I'll meet you back here after I head back to mine to change." I gave him a quick kiss on the lips and padded down the stairs.

"Keaton!" Sam's voice carried through the cafe into the back room. I turned around and was caught off guard by how close she was to me now. I stumbled backwards into the hanging rack of aprons.
"Shit,' I muttered under my breath. Her dark brunette, almost black pony tail was swinging back from her fast movements.
"Oh my god! Sorrry! Are you ok?" She put a hand over her mouth.
I nodded and regained my balance. "Yeah. I just gotta get back to work Sam. We are working."
"Right," she giggled nervously.
"I, uh, do need to talk to you when we get off though."
"Oh, ok!" she smiled at me and I couldn't help but notice she wiggled her hips as she walked farther into the kitchen. I sighed and shook my head to myself.
My shift went by slowly and every time I saw Sam she winked at me or smiled at me. When it ended, I just wanted to get out of there but I remembered I promised Noelle I would talk to her. I hung up my apron, grabbed my skateboard from the back, and went out to the front. Sam was already waiting for me on the side of the brick cafe building, her small frame leaning against it with one leg bent up and her arms folded across her chest. Her phone was in one of her hands and she was scrolling mindlessly on it. She looked different to me somehow, standing there alone.
"Hey," I said as I walked up.
Her stance instantly changed when she realized I was there. She stepped away from the building and slid her phone back into her pocket. A smile pulled at her lips. "Hey! So what did you want to talk about?"
"I just wanted to talk to you about the other day," I kept my tone neutral.
"It was fun, wasn't it?" her eyes lit up.
"Yeah, Sam but I want to make sure that you know we're nothing more than friends. I have a girlfriend."
"Then why did you go get milkshakes with me?" her face fell and her eyes looked angry as she narrowed them.
I sighed. "Sam, we can be friends, but Noelle is my girlfriend. You need to understand that, ok?"
"Who even is Noelle? That bitch that you ran after the other day?"
This was a different side to her that I hadn't seen before. I took a deep breath to try and stay calm. "You can't call her that, Sam. You don't even know her."
"I can call her whatever I want because she stole you from me and I plan on getting you back," she turned on her heel and stomped away from me. Just as I thought this problem was going to go away, it got worse.
