Sapphire and her parents had just moved into their new modern four-bedroom house with a bathroom attached to the two master bedrooms and another one downstairs. It had a large kitchen and a perfect sized living room with a yard that attached to the nearby forest which Sapphire loved a lot. The yard also had a garden patch with some flowers already growing which she knew would make her mother happy since she loved gardening.

The forest was apparently never used, except for hunters that came from out of town to hunt small game but they were always chased off by the locals since this was a peaceful town and nobody like the idea of guys with guns shooting up the forest. Either way Sapphire was quite excited to go on her first run in her new home, her parents were starting to turn against being werewolfs because of all their recent tragedies but Sapphire wanted to be the wolf she was born to be and more particularly, find her mate.

"Mom, Dad, I'm going for a run in the forest" she called out to them as she hid behind a tree and started stripping her clothes, not wanting to rip them when she shifted into her wolf which would be the first time she'd shifted in weeks.

"Okay, be careful" Her father called back which suprised her because he was so protective that she expected him to want to go with her but then again maybe this was a new beggining and he was giving her more freedom than usual.

she let her bones reform and her fur grow out until she was stood on all fours, sniffing the air and taking in the new fresh scent that surrounded her but something about it smelt odd although she ignored it and shook it off as a mistake given it was her firdt shift in a while.

"Ready for a run Kat?" she asked her ineer wolf, knowing she'd be excited to take control for a little while.

"Yes, i'm sooo ready, i can't believe i had to stay put this whole time" she whined as usual then took a deep breath before she took off sprinting through the woods, smiling widely as she started memorising the new layout around her.

After a few minutes of running and getting lost in the forest she came upon a clearing, it had a fresh smell to it though her wolf ears could pick up the feint sound of water which would explain the calming smell to the are but what un nerved her was the fact that a large house stood in the middle of the clearinng, it was a pack house for a pack of werewolfs but she didn't believe it at first because her parents assured her there was no local pack.

She spent a moment taking in the sight of the house and all the people walking around outside but she didn't realise that in her moment of curiousity she'd moved close enough to the pack house for one of them to sniff her out. "ROGUE!" was all she heard before she saw the pack shift and start to run towards her.

The chase had begun and although she was fast she knew that the odds were against her given the amount of wolfs behind her and the fact that she believed one of them would be faster than her. They also had a better lay of the land than her so she knew she couldn't trick them, her only hope was to hide form them so when she saw a thick tree coming up she ran around it then dived under a fallen tree trunk, hiding under it completely, the smell of oak covering her scent as the pack ran by.

After what felt like forever of her heart beating loudly in her chest she stepped out nd looked around, it hadn't been very long, just a few minutes she was hiding but she believed it would have been long enough for the pack to move on. She started sprinting towards home, smiling when she picked up her parents scent and almost howling in joy because she was home free, or so she thought she was.

Before she had a chance to think or react she was tackled to the ground by a large grey wolf, it was strong and proud like an Alpha which made her realise that if this was the Alpha then she was in alot of trouble. She felt the weight of its paw lifted off her chest so she could breathe then it gestured to a tree, obviously telling her to go and shift so they could talk, the wolf could smell she was female which is why it told her to hide her body.

She did as she was told and hid behind the tree, shifting and trying to calm her breathing because her breath was heavy with fear that this would be her last day, that they would kill her for tresspassing. A pair of shorts and a shirt landed in front of her which she happily picked up and pulled on quickly, coming out from behind the tree in time to see the wolf that had tackled her now in his human form pulling his own shirt on.

"I'm sorry Alpha, i'm new to town and i heard that there was no pack here so i assumed it was safe for me to come out and let my wolf free for a while" she explained desperately, not noticing half the pack laughing at her.

"I'm no Alpha, if it was the Alpha you'd be in alot more trouble so you're lucky he's away, im the Beta, call me Asher" his voice came out soft which was a suprise given how tough and stern he looked.

"I'm Sapphire, i'll find away to make up for my intruding earlier if you'll please allow me to go home" she was still scared and wanted to just go lay in bed forever, if that's what it took to calm down.

"You can make it up to us by joining our pack, i'll come see you tomorrow and pick you up for school, we'll talk about you joining and then when our Alpha returns you'll be inducted into the pack" he states then waved his hand dissmissingly. "Go on, go home" he mumbled and the pack turned around, all running off back to their house.

Sapphire let a few tears of joy slide down her cheeks at the fact she was still alive and that she had been given another chance to join a pack which she wanted so badly, to be a pack member and find her mate. She also found her slef dissapointed that the Beta wasn't her mate because she found him quite cute, though as soon as she realised what she was thinking she slapped herself and walked home.

When she got in she walked straight into her room and collapsed on the bed, not bothering to unpack as she slowly closed her eyes and allowed sleep to take her, hoping to forget the fear she had felt and concentrate on the joy she was now feeling. She would never forget this day for many reasons, one being it was the start of a new chapter and because it had been so stressful and two because she was soon to learn that this pack would lead her to her mate and an adventurous future.
