Bennets P.O.V
It was a dark night, all that could be heard was the softly blowing wind and the sound of crisp leaves crunching beneath my feet as I walk towards the deep, dark forest in the middle of the night. I'm not usually allowed out in the forest this late at night but that didn't stop me from sneaking out. My father was adamant that I need to stay indoors at night in case rogues attack or I get lost in the forset, but I always thought he was being paranoid since I'm old enough to live alone, well that is what I thought until tonight.
I must have been a couple of minutes away from the pack house and my family when I heard the growls and saw the scarlet red eyes circling me. I looked around and counted the pairs of eyes to see how many rogues there was, knowing I could single handedly take out at least three, but what I saw was a lot more, at least seven. I took a deep breath before I thought for a second about my options and if I was ready to die, all because I ignored my father and decided to go out at night.
I closed my eyes and thought of the pack before I finally decided that I had no chance to kill these alone, knowing I had to run but unsure on if I'd make it back to the pack or if I'd be slower than the rogues. I opened my eyes and looked at them before quickly turning and running back towards the house, jumping over a rogue and kicking off its back to give me more momentum, landing perfectly and sprinting off. I heard the grunts and panting of the wolfs behind me and I knew that wolfs are faster than human form but I had to try and outrun then, at least for a minute.
I was almost there when I saw the dark brown mass running towards me at top speed, making me start to slide as it leapt over me, looking up and seeing its stomach, as I finished the slide I turned to see the one wolf slaughtering all seven of the others. I was about to shift and help until I saw the fight was over and the dark brown wolf, my father, had won the fight. I watched him shift and glare at me before he spoke in a furious tone "I told you to stay indoors but you're always too arrogant to listen, get your arse insi....." he was cut off by the noise of something flying through the air and impaling something.
I watched the blood pour from my father's mouth as he slowly fell to the floor, time was in slow motion and chills went through me as I saw my father die, as his body hit the floor I saw the silver knife sticking out of his back. The night was no longer silent, instead, it was filled with my mothers' screams, as I turned to see her behind me, stood in the doorway she'd seen everything that I'd seen.
I watched as an army of rogues emerged from the dark forest, one of them had amber eyes and was the only one that stood as a human. The pack had come out and lined up behind my mother, ready for a fight, while the teenagers grabbed all the kids and helped them to safety. I should have been helping the others help the kids but I knew that I had to kill that rogue, even with Asher trying to pull me back and stop me, it was no use.
I shifted and ran at the man who'd killed my father, hearing the pack howl and my mother calling to me, begging me to stop. I ignored all cries and pounced at the man but was sent flying back as he effortlessly back handed me, making me hit a tree. Yelping in pain and slowly standing up to charge him again, but I hadn't realised that he was already next to me, grabbing my neck and lifting me like I was a pillow, he threw me through the air, landing at my mothers' feet. I was in agony but I still watched as my pack shifted and the fight began, feeling arms around me, pulling me along the ground to safety. I shifted and looked back to see Ash, pulling me into a bush, hidden from sight so no one could see us.
I watch through the bushes as the fight takes place and people die, my pack fighting well but the rogues fighting better, being more trained and stronger, even though it couldn't be possible since we are the strongest pack in the world. I watched the rogue that killed my father grab my mothers throat and listened as the noise echoed through the forest, the noise of my mother's neck breaking.
I sit bolt upright and look around to see my bedroom then down to see my beautiful mate asleep beside me. I remember what had happened the previous day then think about my dream, it wasn't a dream, it was a memory, I watched my parents die and it was all my fault, I was arrogant and now I'm Alpha of the pack my parents died for.
