Chapter 20

Hey guys!!!! I am doing everything I can to update more often and I will try to keep updateing as much as I can. What should I name the book I will start about myself?

Also, when I look through the last chapter I published, it only looks like a small portion of the chapter shows up. Is it like that for you guys to? If it is I want to fix it. Please let me know.

"Bella, show me your shoulder."

He didn't know how bad it was because Tanya didn't know either. All he knew was that she had hurt me.

I slowly reached over and pulled my shirt off my shoulder to reveal my bruise. I briefly glanced at it to see it was darker.

I looked Tanya in the eyes. Her eyes grew dark with rage.

"Does it hurt?" Edwards voice sounded strained.

"Only when I move or touch it. It's the same with my side." I explained, never taking my eyes off Tanya.

I didn't know it was possible, but Edward tensed up even more. He must not have seen that yet.

He gently lifted my shirt to see the dark bruise on my waist. I looked away from Tanya at Edward. His eyes held so much pain. He hated seeing me hurt.

Tanya walked up and put her hand on his shoulder. Edward had never looked so hostile.

"You have to understand," Tanya pleaded, "She was trying to come between us. All I did was remind her who you belong to."

Edward slapped her hand away with great force.

"I belong to Bella." Edward stated. I looked down with a blush rising to my face as he pulled me to his side.

"You bitch!" Tanya screeched.

In an instant, Tanya lunged for me, Edward stepped in front of me, and Jasper and Emmett appeared to hold Tanya back.

"He's mine! You took him from me!" Tanya struggled to escape their grasp.

"Bella, go downstairs with Esme." Edward said to me. He never took his eyes off of Tanya.

I turned to walk out the door and saw everyone else behind me. Esme grabbed my hand and we rushed, at a human speed, downstairs. She sat with me on the couch. She looked upset when she turned to me.

"I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. I've caused so much trouble." I put my head in my hands. Esme rubbed my back.

"Bella, you did nothing wrong. I'm just upset that you got hurt."

I nodded and we sat there for a few minutes. The house was really quiet so they had either solved everything peacefully or taken it outside.

A few more minutes passed and Esme stood up as everyone except for Tanya came back in. Edward rushed to stand at my side.

"Bella, we are so sorry about Tanya's behavior. I don't know what has gotten into her." Carmen hugged me.

"You have nothing to appologize for." I replied, hugging her back.

"She ran off so we are going to try to find her. She is probably heading back home. We will see if we can meet her there." Eleazer explained.

I walked over and gave him a hug to say goodbye. I was then grabbed by Kate and Irina. I hugged them both.

"Don't worry, we'll talk some sense into her." Kate smiled.

"We'll come visit again soon." Irina added.

After a few more parting words, they left back to Alaska and hopefully Tanya. I really hoped that we would be able to fix things with Tanya. She was family afterall.

"Bella, I want to check on your injuries, if that's okay." Carlisle said.

I nodded and followed him up the stairs to the clinic he had made for me. I sat on the table as he inspected my bruises.

"Nothing is broken, thankfully they're only bruises. They will be sore for a few days but they'll heal just fine. Is there anywhere else that she hurt you?" Carlisle asked.

"No. Just my side and shoulder yesturday." I answered.

"Alright." Carlisle smiled. "You should go get some rest. It's been a long day."

He helped me off the table and I made my way to my bedroom. Edward had beat me there and was already sitting in the middle of my bed. I closed my door, turned on my lamp and sat beside him.

He pulled me into his lap and wrapped his arms around me. I blushed deeply as he stuck his face in my neck. I knew he could hear my heartbeat racing, which made me blush even more.

"I'm okay." I sighed.

He nodded his head then sat up to look at me.

"Bella, I am so sorry. I should have stayed with you yesturday. I should have never left you alone with her and I should have noticed sooner." I could see the sorrow in his eyes.

I shook my head.

"Edward. Listen to me. You didn't do anything wrong. You needed to go hunting. None of us would have thought that she would act how she did. Not even Alice saw it coming. Don't you dare blame yourself." I scolded. Edward pulled me closer, catching me off guard.

"I'm just glad nothing else happened to you."

I smiled and hugged him back. He took me out of his lap and stood up. I covered myself with a blanket and laid down. Edward turned off the light. I reached over and grabbed his cold hand.

"Stay." I said. He smiled and climbed back into the bed next to me. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. I snuggled into his chest.

His voice was the last thing I heard before I fell asleep.

"I'll always protect you."
