Namjoon's Perspective
This was great. Everything was going great. I wasn't awkward, at least I didn't feel awkward, and Jenny looked like she was having fun. Everything was great.
I checked the time. We had 30 minutes until the start of the show and it was a 10 minute ride from the shop to the school. But I wasn't about to ruin the moment.
"Did you know cotton candy was invented by a dentist?" She asked me as she eyed the cotton candy on the other side of the shop.
"Did you know cotton candy was supposed to be floss but it kept dissolving in the mouth?" I asked her as I watched her stare at the cotton candy.
"Can I have one?" She asked suddenly.
"More candy?"
"Yeah. They're so cute. Look! They have ducks and flowers made of cotton candy!" She pointed excitedly at the candy.
It was indeed quite adorable. But I really don't want to deal with someone on a sugar high.
"Do you get hyper?" I asked as a precaution.
"Hmmm" she hummed. "Maybe", she replied in a teasing tone that I found awfully adorable.
I smiled at her. "I guess I won't buy it for you." I teased her.
She was quick to respond. "No, no, no!" Her head snapped in my direction. "I've never been hyper in my life!"
I couldn't help but chuckle. She was so cute. "Ok, I'll buy it for you, but just so you know, we don't have much time until we have to go."
"Thank you so much." She smiled from ear to ear.
I bought the cotton candy for her and walked back to a beaming Jenny. She looked so childlike as she devoured the candy. I don't think I've ever seen this side of her.
"Will your mother allow you to eat this much candy?" I asked as she kept eating her candy.
She didn't even look up. "Nah. But she's not here right now. And the sugar should be down by the time I get home."
I smiled at her response. I checked the time, we needed to go. "Hey, Jenny. It's time for us to go. Do you think you can finish that on the way there?"
"I believe I can."
We got up and said goodbye to the cashier who must've been bored the entire time. We got inside my car and made our way to the school.
I was focused on the road when I caught something in my peripheral vision. I turned to my right and saw that Jenny had finished her candy. We weren't even halfway there.
"You're done already?" I asked in aw.
She gave an animated smile. "Yup. It was too good. I tried to savor it but failed."
"But it was so big." I said while keeping focus on the road.
"But it was also great" she countered. "Thanks, by the way. For the candy and ride."
"You are very welcome." I answered satisfied.
A very comfortable silence fell upon us. In a few minutes we arrived at the school. We got out and headed towards the doors. We walked into the auditorium and found two empty seats, not in the front and not in the back. Not in the middle but not too far on the sides. We found perfect seats and got ourselves situated. We were ready for the hour long show that never held any true talent.
-
About halfway through the show I felt Jenny's hand slip into mine. It took me by surprise but I didn't hesitate to hold her small hand in my large hand.
Minutes later she leaned her head onto my shoulder and got herself comfortable. As she was comfortable enough to sleep, I tried to stay as still as stone to not disturb her.
-
As the show was reaching it's final performances, Jenny started to fidget around in her seat. She no longer was leaning on me, but she never let go of my hand.
When the show ended, we waited patiently to get out. It was better to leave last since there was going to be multiple other people trying to get out of the parking lot.
"Are you taking me home or are we are we going to go on an adventure first?" Jenny asked as we sat in my car.
"I don't think it can count as an adventure, but no I won't take you home till afterwards."
"Yay! Adventure!" She slightly yelled with excitement. All I could do was chuckle at her cuteness.
We made our way onto the road. I drove us to our third destination for tonight.
