Sophia
"So, what are your plans for tonight, Sophia?" Olivia walks next to me, towards the charter bus to take us back to the hotel. This charter bus was like a second home, and I was actually sad that I only had a week left before we all had to part ways and head home.
"I'm going out with Jay and a few of his soccer buddies." We climb the steep stairs onto the charter bus, and take our usual seats in the back, nobody ever coming to the back.
"Any of them cute?"Olivia grins, looking around to see Jacob fours rows ahead of us.
"Olivia!" I playfully slap her wrist, letting out a small laugh. "You and Jacob are finally dating, and I don't think he is up for you two timing."
"I'm kidding." Olivia jokes, making me laugh once more.
"So we will be seniors next year!" Olivia looks at me, wanting to say something.
"No way!" I joke. "And..."
"We do college visits!" She claps her hands, obviously way to excited for any of this
"Yeah, I know." I'm still confused. Is there something to this conversation.. or is she just being, pointless.
"Have you decided what you want to major in? I want to major in Emergency Medicine, and become an ER Doctor in Phoenix. It's a huge hospital and only a thirty minute drive from Tempe!"
"Sounds perfect for you, you love bossing people around."She scoffs at me, causing me to laugh again. "But I love you for it. Anyways, I want to go to New York University and major in Criminology. Be a detective or something."
"What about Jay?" Olivia looks at me.
"He plans to do the same." I think back to one of the many difficult nights of trying to fall asleep, but still traumatized by the abduction.
"Soph, you really need to get some rest."Jay sits next to me, my head on his shoulder, and his own arm around my shoulder.
"I can't, Jay. I'm scared." I don't move from his arms. I just stay there.
"Then... let's talk about something... Like... I don't know.. Let's say.. What do you want to be when you grow up? We are almost seniors, and need to be thinking about our major.
"Me? Criminology. I eventually want to make it up to a Task Force, sort of like CSI Miami. Do you remember watching that with me every Friday while it was still on? That's what I want to be, but not in Hawaii... at least not anymore."
"Really? You'd be great at that Soph! Since my mom and dad both work for the FBI and stuff, I'm going to carry on the family business. Looks like your stuck with me for the rest of your life." Jay laughs, rubbing my shoulder.
"It's a done deal then. We will both run a task force together and be partners, literally." I run my hand through my hair, getting rid of all the tangles.
"Yes it is." Jay trails off.. "Soph, I don't know what I would have done without you. I'm really happy your safe. " It had only been two days since I was rescued, and well... he never left my side.
There was a moment of silence between us, but a comfortable silence. We both eventually were laying down and my head was on his chest, hearing his strong heartbeat, and he was still caressing my shoulder. For the first time in two days, I felt.. safe.
"Thank you... thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for coming for me. Promise me one thing?" I look into his baby blue eyes, and a smile plastered on his face.
