A Disaster in Paradise

Chapter 22

Jay

"But where were you guys thinking?Soph won't answer her phone, so we can decide." I look at the Drew and Cole as we ride up the steel elevator.

"O'Charley's." Drew lights up.

"No way. Red Lobster is ten times better." Cole argues before the sound of the elevator telling us our stop is here interrupts us.

I use my room card, guessing she is in the shower. I allow Drew and Cole go in first.

"Soph? Sophia?"I yell, but no reply. I glance over to see the bathroom door closed.

"Jay..."Drew trails off, practically shaking in between the two beds.

"What.." I start to exaggerate but my feet, my body stops in place. "Shit! Cole.." I start but the door opens and I see him... Carter. My eyes widen and my whole body fills with venom and hate. My fists clench. I jump over the beds and before he can reach his hand to his pocket I tackle him on the floor.

"Who do you think you are? Hurting my Soph!"I repeatedly punch him in the face and stomach before Drew takes over, allowing me to call Steve.

A I pull out my phone, my hands are covered in sweat, shaking uncontrollably. "Steve.." Tears stream down my face.

"Jay? What is wrong?" Steve commands on the other line.

"Carter.... he.. he might have killed Soph. He broke in... please get here."

"Jay.. restrain him. I'm sending officers up now." The line goes dead, and so does my world.

I walk over and fall to my knees, right next to Sophia. My flannel is ripped off of her, and her pants are down, her whole body covered in blood. "Soph? Soph, babe, please? Please look at me. Wake up."

"Jay?" Her hoarsely voice asks, her brown eyes slowly opening.

"I'm right here, baby. I'm not leaving." I move her hair to the side and apply pressure to her thigh, blood erupting like a volcano from the stab wound.

She sucks in a breathe as I apply pressure. "He raped me. It hurts.. Jay... Please, make it stop."

"Sophia, stay with me, this is helping you." I cry, looking over at Carter who has a grin plastered onto his face.

"Jay.." She looks at me, and her eyes start to flutter shut. "Know how much I..." Her eyes flutter shut and er body goes limp.

"Sophia?! Baby, please, don't do this to me. We are suppose to get married and.. have it all. Please baby girl, help is coming." I lower my head to her bare chest and hear a heartbeat from the inside of her.

I look over to Drew and Cole tells him to move, and Cole stomps his left foot onto Carter's stomach. "That is for coming in here." Cole grabs ahold of his neck until his face turns blue.m, before throwing him back down. "Is for hurting Sophia!"

Steve runs in, and so does four other officers, three of them taking Carter out of the room, and Steve constrainting me. "He killed her! He raped Soph! My Sophia!!"

Paramedics come in and take her to the ambulance, and I run after them, my hands covered in her blood. One of them attempts to close the doors before I get in.

"This is my best friend and I'm not leaving her side." She nods her head in empathy, and starts hooking Sophia up to multiple machines.

My head jerks up when I hear it. A heartbeat. "She.. She is alive?" I look at the paramedic, hopeful.
