Chapter 12

Normani's POV

I spin around in the chair in the conference room at the label's building occupied with me, Lauren, Mickey, and some of our team.

"Thirty more seconds till release!"

"Just a brief run through, this is both of yours second single, promo all week will be together, it's going Down" Mickey smiles

"Annddd it's done!"

"Mani it's done! It's fucking done woo!" Lauren yells, jumping up and down while holding onto my arm

I wrap my arms around her and run my hands through her hair.

"Let's go do more" I say

She looks at me confused and I let out an exaggerated sigh, she rolls her eyes and slaps my arm.

"You pendeja, we play instruments and I know how to work the soundboard, remember?" I laugh

"Oohhhh yeaaa" She says

I pluck her head and she throws her hand up, I grab it and kiss where I plucked her.

"Slow down mama" I smile

Her eyebrows furrow and lips slightly pout, I slowly analyze her facial features like I used to do in high school. Even though her skin is pale most of the time it stills beautifully fits her. Her slightly big teeth match her personality. My eyes go down to her full pink lips and I start remembering how soft they were. It may be dry sometimes but it's surprisingly really soft. I fight the urge to kiss her and rub my thumb over her knuckles.

"Stop pouting all the time" I mumble, still looking at her lips

"Says the Queen of that" She smirks

"Ha ha" I say as I guide us out the room

We decide to use the studio in the building since it was last minute. I sit at the soundboard and start going through different sounds.

"Lo, keep tapping that for about five seconds" I say

Low bass fills the room and I merge it with the sound of waves crashing then a light techno sound.

Once the beat is done we start writing the lyrics and we're done within two hours. I decide to go in first since I have the first verse.

"End of the night, looking at me, what do you see? Wish I could read your mind, dimming the light, here in the dark, going by the feel, only the moon to guide"

I go thorough the other parts I got then Lauren goes in.

"When we're alone, I get so close give me the warmth I've never known, face to face, caught in a wild embrace, this is the safest place I've ever known"

When she's done with her parts I go over to my laptop and start mastering everything.

As I'm finishing, I merge our voices over the chorus. I play it all back and smile at her as she dances around to it.

She grabs my hands and swing my arms side to side while singing along. She looks so free and happy and cute, God I love her so much.

She pulls me up and into a hug, wrapping her arms around my neck. I wrap mine around her waist and pull back a lil to look at her beautiful face, which was probably a mistake. The same feeling I had earlier is back and I can't bring myself to break out the embrace. I find myself rubbing small circles on her lower back, our foreheads starting to touch while I look deep into her eyes.

Would you squeeze me, hold me, baby?

Her fingers run through a small part of curls in the back of my head slowly. She brings her other hand to my lower cheek and her thumb caresses the side of my mouth. She blinks and presses her lips onto mine, my breath hitches and heartbeat speed up in surprise. Shit this is really happening right now. I kiss back and sigh in content as our lips slowly move softly against each others' in sync. I bring my hands up to her jawline and make the kiss more passionate. She breaks the kiss and takes a deep breath while tossing her hair.

"I love you"
