Lauren's POV
I look at Normani as she looks at me with an unreadable expression. I look down and notice how her arms are still wrapped securely around my waist.
"I never stopped" I mumble, attempting to get out her hold
She pulls me back to her, our faces inches apart.
"Stop, tell me" She says lowly
Everything is so soft and vulnerable right now. Her eyes, her voice, her touch. I look back down and rub my hands over her lower arms.
"I tried but I couldn't-"
Her hand comes to my chin and she tilts my head up till we're eye to eye.
"Look at me" She says
I nod my head and continue.
"I tried to get over you as best as I can cause I honestly didn't know if I'd ever see you again and how you would feel, but I couldn't let go completely cause I still had a little hope that I would see you again and we'd finally be able to be something, I somewhat got over you but only enough to keep me sane and the minute I saw you on stage at the AMA's it all came back but I denied it cause I didn't know how you still felt about us, every ounce of love I felt for you came back stronger than ever and I was scared, scared you don't feel the same way and our friendship would be a mess, but I didn't wanna relive high school, relive another three years of pain, not knowing if you even looked at me in that way and every other possible bad scenario. No matter what I did I couldn't stop loving you, the night we were at karaoke I came to terms that it was all here and it was driving me crazy trying to keep all my feelings for you hidden from you"
I wait for her to say something but instead she connects our lips. I slightly moan, caught off guard and kiss back just as intense.
"I love you too Lo, more than you think" She says
"Now what?" I ask
"What do you think?" She asks
"A couple?" I ask with a small smile
"A couple of what?" She smirks
"See, you play too much" I laugh
"A couple of girlfriends huh?" She smiles
I nod my head and place my arms back around her neck.
"Say it" She says, tracing around my lips
"Normani, after 8 years, will you finally be my girlfriend?" I giggle
"Damn 8 years?!" She laughs
"Yeeeaaa, freshman year in high school to now" I say
"We're so complicated" She says
"That, we are" I say
"You never answered" I smirk
"What do you think my answer is?" She asks in a 'duh' tone
"Say it" I mock
"Yes Lauren, I will finally be your girlfriend" She says
"Good! Let's go wander the city that never sleeps" I smile, grabbing her hand
She grabs her laptop and we make our way to Mickey's office. We leave the flash drive on his desk then exit the building.
"You say my name so cute" She says
"What do you mean?" I ask
"Your accent, you say Nermani" She says
"I do not!" I say
