Chapter 21: Finally it's done

Betty was grinning ear to ear seeing me at her apartment’s door step and said “Adrina, What a surprise? Please com….” She didn’t complete the sentence as she was eying Macy who was on my left whereas Caden on my right side.

I don’t when they get here, Ignoring the question in my head. “Oh! This is Macy” I said with small forced smile putting my hands on Macy’s shoulder. I didn’t introduced Macy as friend of either me or Caden’s so to avoid upcoming confusion.

And she did buy it as Betty smile at Macy and said “Hello Macy! Nice to meet you and all of you please come inside.”

I was glad as she didn’t try to pry more about Macy and with relief I went inside along with them. I see Mr. Banner sitting in a couch watching T.V. When he saw us he turns off the T.V and smiles at me.

I too return his smile and said “Hello Mr. Banner! How are you?”

He gave me stern look, “Oh! I mean Joe” I said giving him uneasy grin. “I’m fine Adrina. Well how come you didn’t inform us before visiting?” he asked me.

Before I could say anything Betty yelled at her “She can come whenever she likes. This is also her house” and turn to me smiling “Don’t mind him” said pointing her thump toward Mr. Banner.

I only nod my head as I don’t have any answer for that. “Ok kids! You guys have a sit I’ll bring some coffee and snacks” she said went toward kitchen.

We three sit on a same couch me sitting on middle of them. After few minutes Betty comes along with coffee and snacks. I stand to help her but she refuse and put coffee and snacks on coffee table in front of us.

“Feel free have anything” Betty said eying Macy and me with bright smile and took a sit along with Joe.

I eyed Caden to start the topic; he was looking pale from nervousness as this involves his dead sister and his parent’s emotions. I put my hands on Caden which were lying beside him in reassurance. He looks at me and I gave him small smile encouraging him so that he could talk to his parent.

He turned toward his parents who were taking slip of their coffee. He cleared his throat to attract his parent attention which he gets as his parent look at him.

He again cleared his throat and starts to say “Well… Mom, Dad…umm …I want to sayy …something”, slurring in process.

His parent were looking at him saying continue with their eyes. “I … I don’t… it’s I can’t marry Adrina” Caden said last part very fast.

“What?” his parents scream at the same time and look at each other as they both said the same word ‘what’ and look at Caden again saying “Why?” at the same again.

But this time both of their eyes were fixed on Caden so I decided to join in the conversation saying “I also feel the same, I don’t want to marry him.”

This time their head turned toward me so before they question I continued “It’s not that I don’t like Caden and you both it’s …” I couldn’t form any word after that.

“I love Macy” Caden added to which his parent heads snap to his side in surprised and shock at same time. If it was any other time I would have laugh out loud as seeing their head snap from Caden to me and me to Caden.

“Ok I got it now. The girl with you is Macy and she is your girlfriend” Betty ask Caden pointing her hand toward Macy. He nods his head saying ‘yes’.

“Why didn’t you tell us before?” Joe his father said in disbelief.

After listening to his father comment Caden become frozen with wide eyes as May ne feeling agitated. “I never thought I had taught you to lie or keeps things” his mom said feeling hurt.
