Chapter 23: Interrogation by my parents

Nolan stopped the car in front of my house. After saying goodbye with goodbye kiss on his cheek, I got out from his car. Before I reach the porch, he called me, “Adrina wait…” he came out of the car. “You forget to give me something,” he said which make me confused.

I turned to him and blink my eyes several times and ask, “What?”

He lean closer and kissed me without giving any answer. In the same moment my mother makes her special appearance.

So, I gingerly pulled out from his kiss. He was about to say something stupid as he was frowning. But stopped himself, seeing my panic expression so, he turned around. As I was facing the door and he was facing me which makes it obvious that he couldn’t see my mom standing in the doorway.

And there my mom was looking at us with sternly and arms crossed around her chest. So I tried to change the atmosphere saying “Hi mom. How are you?” I internally face palm myself coming for lame expression. But what I can do, only those words decided to get out from my mouth at that moment.

“What is going on here?” she asked fuming. If it was animation show then smoke could be seen coming out my mother’s ear. It’s reality so, it didn’t come.

“Hmm… nothing much mom,” I said sheepishly and turn to Nolan signaling my eyes to ‘go I’ll take care of it’ referring to mom’s anger but he wouldn’t bulge.

Instead he decided to talk to mom “Oh! Hello Mrs. Halton, I’m Nolan. Pleased to meet you,” he said extending his hand for my mother to shook. Which obviously she choose to ignore and turned my side raising her eyebrow at me.

I saw Nolan hand hanging in the air to be shooked my mother which make angry for her behavior. So, I yelled at her “Mom at least you could shook hand with him.”

“Don’t raise your voice sweetheart as this your fault for not talking with me in advance about this guy,” she yelled back at me and gesturing to Nolan, referring as ‘this guy’.

“Mom,” I whined as I know it was my mistake. But I was about to spell everything today. And she decided to come out of house when I was bidding goodbye to my ‘boyfriend’. I cannot even refer Nolan as boyfriend yet as he has not asked me to be his girlfriend. Never the less about our little affair I can put it in this word for till then.

“Let’s discuss this inside the house. Do we want to put up the show for our neighbor, do we?” she said already turning towards the door. But not before pointing finger to Nolan and saying “You too little boy,” and enter inside the house.

“Little boy Really! Do I look little to you?” Nolan said gesturing to his body.

This brought small chuckle to my lips “Stop messing around and let’s get going before my mom starts to put up a show again,” I said dragging him inside.

He was about to comment but seeing both my parent looking our way stopped him. So being a good boy he snuggles closer to me and walks with me towards living room.  We both take seat on couch facing my parents.

My father clears his throat and said to me “Would like to explain about this lady.” I love my father cause unlike mom; He straight get to the point.

“About,” I try to play innocent card but failed as getting stern look from him.  So, I begin explaining “You know I didn’t want to marry Caden from the first,” to which both my parents nod their head. “And you see Caden feel the same about this marriage in addition he already has a girlfriend,” which brought gasp from my mom. “Yeah! It’s true,” I said this to give extra effect.

“And his girlfriend’s father happened to be the person who hits Cathy’s car,” another gasp come from by mom so I gave her small sad smile and continue explaining “That’s the reason Caden keep his girlfriend secret to his parents as he come to know about the fact about her father, when he starts to feel for her, and you can see she was not the guilty for that incident. And also Macy and her mother were abused by that person,” while finishing that sentence my parents has confused look on their face. And I suddenly remember mentioning ‘Macy’ name in my last sentence so to clear their confusion I added “Macy is Caden’s girl name.”They nodded their head and gave me the look to continue so I started again saying “As Macy and her mother were abused by her father, they decided to run from him so, and they settle here after running from cruel person who cause problem to both Caden’s family and his family. He accident happened after they came here.” I finish my half story expecting them to finish their questions like in examination of school.

“We got but this isn’t the answer to the question about this guy in front my house kissing my daughter. And also your absence from home today and yesterday,” my mom barged in giving me the look saying this is not over yet. “And plus do Betty know about these stuff,” she said refering to Macy.

I nodded my head and said, “Before today she was unknown about this fact. With my little encouragement and support, Caden along with me and Macy confesses to his parent today. So, I was there today to give him moral support as you can see this like shock to his parents,” I ended with sad smile.

“Yeah I really feel bad for Cathy if…” she could finish her sentence as I can see tears starting to form in her eyes. I know how much both mine and caden parents adore Cathy as she was such an angle sweet, innocent and more over gorgeous. We three used to be really close when she was here.

She shook her head not letting tears to fall But continue inquiring about Nolan “He is Caden’s friend, isn’t he?” gesturing to Nolan. I already assume this was not over.

“Umm… yeah, You guys met him at the dinner in Caden house which was a week ago,” I was about complete my sentence thinking that’s it. But being a curious cat my mom raise her eyebrow for more information so added “And for your kind information, I met Nolan in Mart before the dinner. I went there with Rachel and Katy. I only came to know about his and Caden’s friendship after meeting him at the dinner.”

“And your relation status with this … umm… ma…” my mom started to fumble as she couldn’t get words ;to know about our relationship status, which is also confusing topic to me as well.

Thank god Nolan decided to butt in by saying “We like each other,” otherwise I don’t what I would have comment.

“How long you two have been together?” she asked looking at us.

This time I answer her “About a week or so.”

Mom was about to interograte again so I grabbed Nolan arm trying to make him stand which I was unable being small in front of him. So he decided to be a gentleman and stand on his own two foot to reduce my struggle to make him stand.

After we both stood up I said “I think you got your answer to all your questions. It’s getting late and Nolan has to go to his work early. So he is leaving now,” to my parents and drag him out of my house; without giving him chance to speak.

Before turning I found my mom giving the look saying ‘this is not over all’. Ignoring that we came out from my house and I close the front door taking a long breath I don’t know how long I was holding it.

“I think you should go now” I said to Nolan. And he pouts at me saying “What was that and why so early?”

If this was any other time I would love to play along with him saying ‘how cute he was looking with this pout’ but not today. I sighed and said rolling my eyes, “ Now it's time to handle them myself.”

He nod his head and said “Ok later then. But I must say your mom is really something” shaking his up and down in amusement with chuckle. 

It made me chuckle too “Yeah I know” I added.

“Bye see you later. If you need me to deal with them then do call and I’ll be there with you” he said sincerely in last part.

My hearts melt with his sincerity but shake head saying “They are my parents I can handle them.”

 He pecks my lips and head toward his car saying “good night”. I also yelled him “goodnight”

I stand there until his car drove away from my sight and enter my house with the feeling the wrath is indeed not finished.

 Finally after really long time I update this book. I’m really sorry for the wait and inconvenience. But anyway enjoy this new update. Hope I’ll update another chapter soon. I’m also in need for an editor who can help with this book. Is anyone interested to edit? If yes please PM me.
