Chapter 24 : You are Grounded

After sending Nolan, I went inside my home. My parents were taking in a hush tone which I quite don’t get it. When they saw me they immediately stop and look my way.

I try to get pass these tension in here. So with sheepish smile said, “I think we should head toward bed. It’s late,” yawning along.

But both gave me stern look and raised their eyebrow at the same time. Looking at them it makes me giggle as they doing same thing together and at the same time

Again they clear their throat at the same time and look at each other at the sometime and me. I couldn’t hold it back any longer I just roared with laughter. After few minutes I look at them, both were red from embarrassment so, my laughter goes again.

“Enough,” my father yelled with so much authority, I just stopped laughing. All laughter died as my father is always calm person; Never ever raised his voice to anyone. From the look it could be said mom was also shocked; as her mouth was dropped opened.

There is pin drop silence in the room. Dad just realize his action and compose himself and said, “You know we are not done yet,” the voice was calm but still authority in his voice was there.

I nodded my head and plopped down to place where I sat with Nolan. “Umm… yeah!” I said in low voice.

“So, tell us about that boy,” dad asked.

“You know I always want to get married out of love,” I said looking at my parents face. Both mom and dad nod their head at same time. They knew about that very long ago. As I didn’t used to have relationship or bring boys at my house like Aden used to bring girls. I also had only one relation, but before getting any serious in my relationship I found him cheating on me with some bamboo. So, I didn’t let anyone come near me.

“And you love him,” this time mom asked me. This question let me stunned as, I don’t know about it. It’s only been few weeks we know each other.

So I put my thought in words, “We just met couple of week ago,” with shrug of my shoulder.

“As I remember earlier, you talk about your today’s absence but not yesterday’s,” my asked raising her eyebrow, which get me off guard. I tried avoiding that question so, I carefully changed the topic. But I’m assured for sure, she sure is my mom after all.

I looked at anywhere but her and said, “I went out yesterday for some fun,” I smile coming up for some excuse.

“With whom,” she asked crossing her arms. She is giving me the looks ‘you can’t get away with that.’

Groaning I said, “With Nolan,” finally I admitted.

“I see,” mom said amused as she got what she wanted to hear. “And you just forgot to inform us about your date,” she added in calm voice.

 Generally, she is very noisy person. She is talking calmly means I’m in danger. I just put my lips on thin line.

As she continue, “For being inconsiderate about your parents and lying them. You are grounded for two days,” said in finality.

“But mom…” I whined at her; she just gives me stern look. So I turn to dad and whine at him, “But dad it’s not fair”

He raised his eyes, “It’s pretty much fair for your behavior. And I agree with your mom. Now you will learn to respect elder,” he gave no choice for argument.

“Fine,” I said stomping my foot. I’m angry is an understatement, I’m furious for treating me like a school kid.

“We have more to discuss,” mom started saying and I just glare at her. “About your relationship with that guy,” she said looking at my face; which is red for sure as I was angry with them.

“About that what,” I shriek at her.

“I think this much for today. It’s already quarter pass to twelve. Let’s talk about this another time,” she said in the process of standing from the conch. Dad is also doing the same. “And till then you can’t see that boy. We will decide whether; you’ll meet him again or not,” she added and head towards bedroom along dad trailing behind her.

My mouth is hung opened. I couldn’t form the word after hearing her announcement. Till I become sober to answer, they were out of my sight.

Running my hands through my hairs for several times; I stood up and went to my room. After reaching my room, I threw my bag in the bed and went to bathroom take shower so, I could clear my mind.

Instead of hot water as usual I go for cold shower to cool down my anger. While running in the shower I thought about my mother and rage build again. I can’t believe her. How can she decide whether I continue to go out with Nolan or not?

Yeah! I accept that I made the big mistake, not telling them about date and all before. But I want to tell them after Caden’s problem was solved. But no it’s luck or my mom, I don’t and who found out about that before I could confess.

Why? She had to stand in front of front door when we kiss. Why? She had to decide about my relationship with Nolan. I thought clenching my teeth and pulling my hair in frustration.

After few minutes I came out from shower and changed into pajamas for sleep. But sleep is far away from me today.

Nolan also couldn’t sleep I think. When I came out of bathroom, my phone was ringing. I take out the phone from the bag and put the phone to my ear.

“Hey! What happened with your parents after I left?” he said as soon I pick up the phone. Before, I could say something to him about all those argument.

Suddenly one evil thought came to mind. I grin at that thought; before Nolan could comment about my silence.

I broke the silence before he could; saying, “Lets run away….”
