Chapter 16

Alice's POV

I waited up for Grace, it was about midnight when she came back smelling like booze. What confused me though is she wasn't drunk at all. Grace came in and kissed me on the cheek before making her way to the bedroom change out of her clothes. I followed her into the bedroom and just leaned up against the door. After she changed she walked up to me and wrapped her arms around my waist. I couldn't help but smile leaning in to kiss her lips. It was soft at first but soon it became very heated and just as she was about to take my shirt off Belle started crying. I smirked at Grace who whined giving her a peck on the lips as I made my way out to go take care of Belle.

"Hey baby girl, "I soothed Belle, as I rocked her back-and-forth in my arms. Her crying went down to a whimper as she stared at me with those beautiful gray eyes. "What's wrong baby girl," I asked as she started crying again. I didn't know what to do finally Grace came in. She walked up behind me putting her arms around my waist.

"What's wrong angel," Grace cooed to Belle. She just kept crying and crying finally we called my mother. My mother told us she was on her way and we waited in the living room pacing trying to stop her crying. "She feels hot," Grace said removing her hand from Belle's face. I looked down at the crying bundle in my arms feeling like the world was falling down around me.
It was a terrible feeling not being able to take away whatever pain was causing Belle and it scared me.

Finally my mom arrived around 15 minutes later. She came rushing to the door frantic, "where is she?" My mom cried before running over to us. She checked her out and Belle started coughing. The coughing continued for a while, it sounded really bad. My mom looked me straight in the face and said "we need to get her to a hospital!" Grace and I quickly bundled Belle up and made our way to my car, my mom took her own. Grace sat in the back with Belle as I quickly drove off to the nearest hospital.

Grace's POV

The doctors took Belle back about an hour and a half ago and me, Alice, and Tammy were all sitting in the waiting room counting the minutes. Alice was in tears with her head on my shoulder and her hand on my own which was resting on my leg. Our fingers were entwined and I found myself rubbing circles on her soft skin. Tammy payed no attention as she sat there waiting biting her nails in anticipation.

Just as Ally's breathing started to deepen the doctor came out. She shot right up asking Belle was okay. The doctor looked at all of us and smiled "she should be fine long as we keep her on these medications. She had a bad case of whooping cough be lucky we caught it in time. Ally let out a sigh of relief and fell into my side wrapping me in a hug tears pouring down her face.

"She's going to be okay pretty lady," I smiled into her hair rubbing her back soothingly.

"Yeah, yeah she is" she half laughed. "I don't think I have ever been so scared in my entire life." Ally cried. Her mother was watching us with this look on her face. The doctor led us back to where Belle was waiting, she was sleeping soundly when Ally walked up and started putting her clothes back on. The doctor handed us a prescription slip for Belle's meds and bid us goodbye. I smiled as I took a step back to let Tammy and Ally love over the baby.

Tammy left leaving just Ally and I standing in the room. "Come here you," Al said calling me over. I walked up to her and she took her arm and slid around my side placing her head on my shoulder while offering me the baby.

"Hey there beautiful," I smiled down at Belle "i'm so glad you're okay." I sniffled. Alice looked up at my face wiping away some of my tears.

"Awe you are a softy" she joked. I smiled at her before grabbing her hand and replying "lets get out of here." We walk to the car hand in hand we didn't care if anybody seen it, it just felt nice to have the comfort. The drive home was really quiet I drove as Belle slept in the back. When we got home Alice took Belle to bed and tucked her in. I was standing in the kitchen getting a glass of water when she walked in. She seemed to be staring at me for a while so I turned around.

"Will you stay with me tonight," she asked so quietly I almost didn't hear her. I set the glass of water down in the sink and made my way over to her looking her in the eyes as her as she teared up again. As the tears started running down her face I gently wiped them off placing a kiss on her nose. "Of course sweetie Id love to sleep with you." She stopped crying and looked up at me punching me in the shoulder.

"Come on asshole let's go to bed." She replied dragging me to her bedroom. We just took off all out clothes and crawled into bed she cuddled up into me placing her head on my chest. "Thank you for being here for me," Ally whispered.

"No problem beautiful," I smiled as we both drifted off to sleep.
