Everyday I spent a little time getting to know Alan. Every chance I got I went for it. I got more comfortable as time went on and we ended up having a relationship. Alan and I were married in the summer of '76. It was the most happiest day of our lives. Spending our honeymoon in Mexico, we couldn't be more happy. My life had finally changed for the better. I hadn't been bothered at all by my last partner and I wasn't quite sure he knew where I was. Truth is I didn't care but I'm sure he was still in London, sending out goons to try and track me down. I knew if he ever found me I was dead for sure. I had that fear every night but with Alan, whenever he was around it seemed like he had control. I didn't have to worry about anything. Alan made me feel strong. He gave me hope and confidence that I could stand up to anything that came at me. Whenever he held me in his arms I felt protected; although I still flinched whenever he raised his hands. He didn't know what that was about and he always asked why I did it. I always replied with "it's nothing". I hated not telling Alan why, but I was afraid he wouldn't understand. Even though I know he already noticed something that day he looked at me weird. But I still hated to tell him. Hunter had made me so afraid to speak up that I couldn't talk about it with the good man. I didn't mean to leave Alan clueless about why I always did that but I was still afraid that deep down inside Alan was just like Hunter. Or would turn out to be just like him. As nice and loving as Alan was, was as nice and loving as Hunter used to be. Before he turned bad. I need to tell Alan the truth. But how? How do I know that he won't soon turn out to be like Hunter? I hated comparing Alan to Hunter because there was really no comparison. But, I had to know for sure I needed more time.
