EVAN DOESN'T HAVE A CAST YET, DON'T GET CONFUSED :)

Evan woke up to the smell of smoke. After blinking a few times and wondering why in the world that smell was so prominent, his eyes widened as he realized that something was burning and decided to check it out. He ran down the stairs to see if there was indeed any flame emitting the smoke or at least the smell of smoke. When he saw clearly that the kitchen was burning, he immediately ran towards his mother's room, Heidi.

"M-mom....m-mom!" Evan tried to wake his mother up. Emergencies like these make Evan stutter a lot, and it really doesn't help when he has Social Anxiety. That explains the regular stuttering. "MOM!" Evan managed to shout out, shaking his mother awake.

"W-What?" Heidi jolted awake. When she saw her son breathing shakily, she took a look around. She realized what the problem was and decided – as much as she possibly could manage – to calmly exit the room.

Too late! The hallway leading to the exit downstairs was already filled with flames. The only option now was to go through the window of Heidi's bedroom. They took the blankets off of Heidi's bed and hurriedly tied it all up to make a rope long enough to help them descend.

Evan prioritized his mom and made her go first. Heidi didn't agree, but she had to or else her son wouldn't go down. The people below who were watching the fire called 911. People there were very nice and more than willing to help.

Unfortunately, Evan had ran out of blankets and had to go down by jumping. He had no other choice. He was either going to stay there and burn, or jump at his own risk. He decided on jumping off of a burning 2-story house. It was definitely a better option to have a broken arm than to burn and die. He obviously had some broken bones when he got down. Now it was up to the doctors to decide what to do with him when he got the hospital.

A few minutes had past, the firemen, police, and an ambulance were now outside the house, helping out. Evan was taken to the ambulance with Heidi. Although she didn't get anything from the fire - not a bruise nor scratch, she came because she needed to be there for her son.

"Are you alright?" She placed a hand on Evan's forehead. He could only nod. He wasn't okay but he wanted to be. For his mom. He smiled at her, trying to tell her that he was perfectly fine.

Evan's boyfriend, Connor Murphy, got called by Heidi on the way to the hospital. She knew Evan needed him more than anyone right now. He immediately came in about five minutes after Evan arrived in the hospital.

The hospital was close to their house, and he almost broke all of the laws of legal driving just to be there as soon as he possibly could. Luckily Connor wasn't the type to be caught red-handed. He made it to the counter and asked for the room. Once he found it, he knocked on the door.

"Come in," A woman, who was probably Heidi, Connor thought, answered. Connor entered and quickly went beside Evan's hospital bed, hugging him softly as not to break any other bones.

"What happened?" He asked worriedly, cupping the face of the boy on the bed.

"The house was burnt down. We still have no idea how, or by who, whether it was an accident or not, but the police are investigating as of now," Heidi answered, filling in for Evan's inability to talk.

It wasn't that he couldn't speak, it was just because he was so traumatized and tired to the point that he didn't have the energy to speak. He was glad to be in Connor's presence, though.

"I'll give you two some privacy," Heidi said and Connor nodded at her as she left.

He went back to look at the tired face of his boyfriend. "You ok? I don't think I can sleep if you're not." Evan nodded, obviously failing to convince his lover otherwise. He really wasn't feeling well, but now that Connor's here, he felt more than okay.

"T-They did g-give me a c-c-cast though," Evan managed to say, he was really stuttering. Connor smiled faintly at this. He helped Evan remove one side of the blanket that covered his body and Evan showed him the cast. He looked at it for a while and an idea popped in his head.

"Can I sign your cast?" He asked, earning a nod from Evan. He saw a black sharpie on the bedside table and grabbed it. He proceeded to sign Evan's cast.

"There, now you are officially mine." Written on Evan's new cast were big letters spelling out 'CONNOR'.

Connor smiled, and Evan smiled with, which made the taller boy's heart melt. He really loved Evan's smile.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~TIME SKIP~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evan was ready to go out of the hospital. The only problem was that they couldn't go back home since the house was burned down. Connor was nice enough to offer them to stay at his family's place for a while until they can find somewhere else to go.
They arrived at the Murphy household feeling a bit weary. "The guest room's still being prepared, I hope you don't mind staying at my room for a while? I have the air bed set up. I'll make sure you're both comfortable," Connor said leading the Evan and his mom up stairs to his room.
Since Connor's family was very rich, his room was really big compared to Evan's room. It looked like Heidi and Evan's room combined. That wasn't even the largest room in the whole house. Naturally, the largest was Connor's parents' room.
"It's more than enough, thank you Connor. I'll repay you the best way I can," Evan remarked with a grateful smile.
"Oh, no, no, it's fine really. You know why?" Connor replied and Evan waited for him to continue. "You're enough," Connor answered as he playfully kissed Evan's cheek, making him blush. He hugged Connor, and it was too adorable.
"I love you," Evan whispered into his embrace, Connor hugged back.
Heidi was watching the whole scene, and she almost passed out because she, too, found it adorable.
"Dinner time!" Connor's mom, Cynthia, shouted from the dinning room. All of them went down and ate dinner.
Dinner by the way...Was a little awkward. No, very awkward. They've eaten dinner together with Heidi before, and each time was always awkward. Larry, Connor's dad, didn't really approve about Connor and Evan being together. He held it in because Cynthia was very okay – more than okay, actually – with it and she made him chill out.
After the draggingly awkward dinner, they prepared for bed. Evan laid down with his mom on the air bed. He couldn't sleep, as if there was something keeping him up. Heidi was snoring a little though, out cold. Evan knew it was due to the fact that she was very tired and worried about the future. Evan finally got enough of being restless and got up then walked to Connor's bed.
His bed was 'queen sized' so two people can sleep on it. Evan assumed Connor was sleeping, he was facing away from him. He laid down beside him and hugged him from behind. He nuzzled his face on Connor's back. Connor then turned to face Evan, he was awake the whole time.
"Can't sleep?" Connor whispered as the boy with the cast snuggled a bit closer to him.
"Y-yeah," Evan whispered in reply. Connor then hugged him back, brushing Evan's hair with his fingers, making Evan sleepy. Evan liked the feeling of Connor's fingers in his hair. Connor liked the feeling of Evan's hair between his fingers.  It was so soft.
...
This was gonna be so awkward when they wake up in the morning.
