Evan was running late for class. He spent so much time finishing his homework that he fell asleep on his desk and woke up late. His science investigatory project was taking all of his gut to finish it. It was a group project yes, but his classmates were really just super lazy and gave all the work to poor little Evan.
He was running almost as fast as the speed of light ( bahaha Nerdy jokes xD ) He bumped into someone by accident. "I'm sorry I just-" He stopped. Black hoodie, Blond hair, Tall-ass...It's...Oh no...Evan's heart raced. He wasn't sure what to do or what to say. He hit the school's big bully and druggie. 'Connor Murphy'
He wished he could just disappear right here, right now. He stood up, Evan's heart skipped a beat. He was afraid of what he's facing. Everyone in school was terrified by him. Oh good, after getting late for school he gets a reward....And this reward hurts...
"You SON OF A-" He stopped. Evan stared with great fear. This time, he didn't care if he's late. All he cared about right now is that he wanted to be alive. "S-sorry..." He said softly this time. He was inching closer. He grabbed his collar. "Don't make the same mistake again." He whispered. Evan's heart was beating faster.
He was so afraid. The 2nd bell rang. He was definitely late. Seems like Connor didn't care if he's late, cuz maybe even teachers thinks he's great....( Sorry xD ) Evan ran to his classroom. Thankfully the teacher was kinda late, so no one would notice that's he's late as well.
He quietly sat behind everyone. He was used to it, not being able to sit with the popular people, or even conversing with someone. It wasn't his fault though, he had social anxiety, obviously he'd have trouble talking to people.
When the class started, he tried his best to concentrate. But all the tension in his head was unbearable. He'd never want Connor to become his enemy. He was afraid he's going to be a dead boi.
After class. He went out the doors and walked to his usual place whenever it was break time. He went outside, there was a little garden at the back of the school. Their school was Eco friendly and had a small garden filled with trees. They called it the 'paradise'. Evan loved that name, because it did hold it's title.
He sat at the very back, behind a tree. He loved trees, he studied about them a lot. It was the only reason why he liked Science. He pulled out his food and ate quietly.
~~~
Connor was walking around the halls. It was break time, he was supposed to eat, but he didn't have any appetite at all. He stepped inside the school's theater. He loved seeing the stage, he loved performing on stage, where everybody was seeing his good side.
He might be known as the school's bully, but deep down he didn't want to be the 'bad person' anymore. He wanted to be that kid who was well known for his talent. Well not to brag about it thought, he just really needed the attention.
But not this kind of attention that he's having right now. In his youth, Nobody noticed him, he didn't have any friends at all. Even until now, he wanted everybody to see who he is. That's when that thought of wanting to be a performer came to mind.
He stepped on the stage and saw the whole room. The seats were empty. He imagined that there were crowds all around watching him perform. He began to follow his heart. He sang to his hearts content. Hoping there might be someone here who won't laugh at him, and maybe give him a chance on stage.
He sang, hitting the notes just right. When he's finished, he imagined the crowd cheering for him and standing up. He smiled. At least something about today was kinda nice, he loved that kind of attention. He just wished it was true.
He turned, and suddenly saw Evan at the back stage watching the whole time. "Evan? What are you-" Evan ran as fast as he could. He was afraid he trespassed Connor's privacy, but he couldn't bring himself not to listen.
He heard it from the garden, he wanted to know where that beautiful voice came from. He didn't expect it to be Connor's. 'Way to go Evan, another strike from Connor. The last strike and your out.' He told himself.
~~~
A few days later...
Evan went back to his place in the garden, he was so hungry he almost ate his lunch all at once. They had to pass a project that was really squeezing his brain and energy. Science, Math, then...P.E?! He needed mental focus, THEN physical focus.
"Food-Yummy-HHHH" Evan hadn't been THIS desperate, but he needed all the energy he needed for his afternoon classes. "Hey!" Someone said Evan nearly chocked on his food, no one ever goes to this garden.
He looked around finding were that voice came from, it sounded more of a 'hi' type of 'hey' ( sorry...I'm not good at explaining xD ).
"Wh-who's there? I have a cafeteria knife and I'm not afraid to use it!" Evan screamed, this sudden burst of confidence was from his medicine, it's kinda working. His energy gotten so full he felt like he was so powerful.
"Don't worry kid, I'm afraid you'll have to use it on yourself." Said the voice and it walked closer. Evan's heart was beating, he kinda recognized that voice. It was...Connor's. He suddenly came into view, Evan dropped his knife and nearly ran, but something stopped him.
His courage was really off the charts right now, he didn't feel like himself. His heart kept telling him to stay put, it was his fate to stay here and talk to Connor. "Wh-why are you here?" He asked, his courage went straight down once Connor gave him a look.
"I needed some fresh air. I'm so tired of my life." Connor said punching a tree. "H-hey! You can't just punch a tree! What did it ever do to you?" Evan said hugging the tree that Connor just punched. "What?" Connor asked slightly confused.
"You know what? Whatever. I'll just go-" "W-wait! You said you were tired of life...Y-you wanna talk about it?" Evan tried to be more c(hill)onfident, if he could make a friend right here right now, he should at least try.
Connor wasn't the type of person to share his problems, but when he looked at Evan's eyes he couldn't help but stare. Evan sat back down beside the tree on his usual spot. Connor shrugged and decided to join him.
"S-so...Uh...How's class? You look like-" He stopped himself, he knew that this was an opinion, but Connor might punch him if he continued any further. "I hate everyone." Connor murmured. Evan tried to analyze this. Everyone fearing him, they didn't even realize Connor was still a person. Maybe he could help.
"Uhm...If you don't mind me asking...Why?" Evan tried to stay confident, but the medicine was wearing off a little more. "It's just...Everyone fears me...y'know? I hate it when people see me, and whisper 'oh look it's him quick run for your life.' I may LOOK scary, but...My family irnores me, they don't even care I have f*ck*ng depression."
Connor did look scary most of the time. But while he's sharing his problems, somehow he didn't really look so scary.
He didn't really know how to comfort people, he couldn't even comfort himself at times like this. But he did know that, maybe just by listening to him talk about his problems...That was somewhat the only way he knew how to help. Even he needs some one to listen to him.
"I..Uhm..I may not be a your family, or not even considered as family...But I can be here for you. I can be that family you always wanted to have. It may not be ideal, but I wanted to help...I always wanted a friend..." Evan tried to smile, it was true he wanted a friend. Someone who he's going to be there for. Someone to live for.
"Really?" Connor asked. "Y-yeah. S-so what do you say? friends?" Evan stick out his hand. Connor shook his hand.
