Ch 10.5 - And Hold It

"Mona? Are you serious?" Spencer asked in disbelief as she and the rest of the girls, besides Mona of course, sat in her temporary room. Toby, Caleb, Ezra, and everyone else decided to set up a grill down on the beach.

"What does he see in her exactly?" Alison asked, honestly contemplating all of her brother's life decisions at this moment.

"Well he's obviously into crazy chicks", Hanna said with a slight laugh.

"Hey!" Aria exclaimed and Spencer stifled her own laugh. Emily looked at all the girls in confusion. "Okay am I missing something here?" She asked.

"Wait you don't know?" Spencer asked.

"I wouldn't be asking if I did."

Aria rolled her eyes. "Jason and I kind of had a thing. After Ezra and I split."

Emily raised her eyes in surprise. "A thing?"

"Yeah. I could always tell he liked me", The smaller girl shrugged.

"But you didn't feel the same way?"

"I-its complicated. Our relationship or whatever you'd like to call it wasn't even a real relationship. Just based on sex and desire."

"But with Ezra?", Emily asked.

"I love Ezra I really do. But....I don't know, seeing Jason with Mona kind of hurt", Aria confessed.

"You shouldn't be feeling that way if you love Ezra", Spencer told her and Aria huffed. "Don't you think I know that? It's messed up I get it."

"She can't help the way she feels guys", Emily said.

"Thank you Emily", Aria said but decided to shift focus off of herself and turned to Spencer. "How are you feeling Spence?"

The brown haired woman laughed. "Honestly...I can't wait to get this thing out of me. Feels like my insides are being torn apart."

"It's going to hurt that bad?" Alison whispered but Emily cocked her head to the side and furrowed her eyebrows. She brushed it off once their names were being called from outside of the window.

They all stood up to look outside and see the guys waving their hands frantically. They waved them down and the girls rolled their eyes. "I think dinner's ready guys", Emily laughed.

Alison waited until the girls left the room to pull Emily to the side. "My dad's still not here."

"That's actually what I want to talk to you about", Emily told her deciding now was the moment of truth.

"He's not coming is he?"

"I'm so sorry", Emily apologized and pulled the girl into a tight hug. Alison sighed and pulled away quickly after. "It's fine. It's his loss right?"

Emily smiled at her positivity. "Exactly."

"Lets go get some burgers."

"Who was smart enough to bring lanterns?" Spencer asked looking around the lit beach.

"Hanna believe it or not. No offense", Aria patted the girl on the shoulder.

"Offense taken", The blonde scoffed and everyone laughed.

They all sat down on blankets in the sand and ate their food while lanterns surrounded them giving them a source of light. It grew dark pretty quick and before they knew it, it was almost 11 at night.
