Chapter 3~

Being yanked back by his shirt Lucas coughed as he choked for a moment. "Watch where you're going punk!" Joe said lifting Lucas off the ground by his shirt, like in the movies. Kids started to stop to watch. "I-I said I was sorry!" Lucas coughed out. "I said I was sorry!" Joe mocked. "Sorry don't cut it. Lemme teach you a lesson then say 'sorry' and see if that fixes anything." Then Lucas panicked and shouted, "LET ME GO!" Kicking Joe right in the face. "OW YOU LITTLE-" But Lucas was gone in a second pushing past kids. He skidded into the art room, twitching. "Here you go Mrs. M." He said dropping off his project. Looking up from her desk, Mrs. M smiled. "It's lovely Lucas thank you." Nodding Lucas left the classroom checking if it was clear. On his was to Geo, Lucas got weird looks. Making him feel as if he was burning alive.

Stepping into the Geography class, Lucas went to sit in the back corner seat. Ness was already there with his friends, Jeff, Poo, and....Paula....making him boil with anger. Feeling like he was being watched Lucas looked up to see Ness staring at him. You ok? Oh yes! Of course Ness had felt Lucas' fear and panic. Yeah....just thought I wouldn't make it. He lied. No need to make Ness worry...if he would at all. You're a bad liar. Ness chuckled. Did you kick him hard? Heck did he hurt you? Lucas felt a smile trying to fight onto his face. Right in the face. And other then a little scrape from when he dropped me, i'm fine. Ness just nodded. Paula tilted her head. "Why did you just nod Nessy? Are you thinking about me again?" She cooed. At that moment Lucas wanted to stand up and take a running jump out the window screaming. Instead he settled for doodling on piece of paper he always had out in class. "Nah just talking to a friend." Ness said. Lucas wondered if he imagined the glace Ness shot him. Nope. Paula caught it and looked around the room. I looked busy with drawing screaming at Ness in my mind. The hatred Paula had for me must of taken over because she got up walked over to Lucas and snatched away his drawing. "H-hey! Give that back!" Lucas cried. Paula taunted at him. "Or what? You'll cry? Or....oh nooo you'll use PSI powers on me? Guess what, you have NONE, Me~ Ness and Poo have PSI power. Get a life kid." She looked at my drawing. "Is this Ness?" She said walking back over to him. Ness looked confused. "Wow the weirdo actually has some skill!" She said showing her friends. Jeff adjusted his glasses. "You're right that's on point!" Poo nodded. Everyone looked at Lucas who started to shake violently. Kids started to whisper, but then the teacher walked in and everyone sat down. "Okay class, turn to page 511 in your book."

Needless to say classes were boring. Once Lunch hit Lucas grabbed his homemade sandwich and salad. He never sat inside. Even on cold days, he found a way outside warming himself up with his PSI ability. Only Ness and his dad knew the powers Lucas had. Plus when he was outside he didn't have to hear all the screaming and yelling inside. It. Was. Loud. Climbing up his normal tree Lucas leaned against the trunk. He loved to be up high. Plus no one ever noticed him. He could also avoid watching Paula fawn over Ness. Ugh..... Taking a bite out of his sandwich Lucas looked around. He heard familiar voices and saw Ness coming outside. Alone. Paula tried to follow him but he hissed at her to stop. Lucas could make out there voices. "Nessy I didn't mean it! But he doesn't deserve to be your friend. He isn't...." Ness Stopped and turned back. Oh boy.... Pain started to gather in his head. "What? He isn't what? Cool? Rich? Leave me alone Paula, go pose for your crushes or something, i'll talk to you again tomorrow." With that he walked away from her leaving Paula's mouth hanging open. She then sniffed and went inside again. Ness on the other hand was looking around. He took off his hat for a moment to show curly black hair. It looked soooo smooth. Lucas wanted to run his fingers through it, badly. Over here.... Lucas thought quietly. Putting his hat back on Ness looked at Lucas' tree. What the heck are you doing up there?! Lucas laughed then doubled over almost choking on his salad. I eat up here. It's nice. You can come up if you want. He said inviting him up. "Will do." Ness said jumping up. PSI powers makes you lighter. So you can almost float. Landing gently on a branch close to Lucas Ness sighed heavily. "Sorry about your drawing...." He said handing it to him. Lucas' cheeks flushed and he smiled. "I-it's fine." He took it putting it in his pocket. "You're so good at art Lucas. That drawing of me is really good!" Lucas felt hot. "W-well....thanks....it's not that good!" Ness laughed. "You're to modest." He stayed quiet for a moment thinking. "Mind if I stay at your place for a bit?" Lucas jumped almost falling off. "Y-yeah...I don't mind. Why?" Looking at Lucas for a moment out of the corner of his beautiful purple eye Ness groaned. "Paula's trying to make me stay at her place for the four day weekend, I say no, she crumbles your drawing, I have a game, she says she's 'BUSY' even after inviting me over. Then she says, i'll just come to yours. Without even ASKING!" He rubbed his eyes. Lucas was stunned. "That's a lot. But if it makes you feel any better, I always come to your games." He said with a smile. Ness looked at the ground far below them for a moment before looking back up smiling. The pain faded. "I know you do." Lucas smiled back at him. Then blinked looking annoyed again. "She's looking for me." Lucas frowned. "But i'll stay here, no hurry." He said not noticing how happy Lucas looked afterwards. Knowing the peaceful calming quiet wouldn't last Lucas cleared his throat. "Hey....Ness?" He said quietly. "Hm?" Ness said letting Lucas know he was listening. "Were good friends right?" Lucas said twiddling his thumbs. "Yeah of course." "Well...Ness would you be mad if-" He was cut off then because Paula came stomping out with her best girlfriend behind her. (They aren't dating there just good friends, and there both girls. Just in cause someone got confused.) "NESS! WHERE ARE YOU!" Stiffening up Ness shushed Lucas. Didn't need to tell him twice. "I know you out HERE!" Any kid who was outside looked up, saw how mad Paula looked and backed away. Or dashed inside. "You!" Paula said snapping her fingers a short kid with glasses. "Where did Ness go?" The kid pointed at himself. "YES YOU!" He jumped and looked at....my tree. "NESS!" Paula screeched. The little kid looked confused then went back to looking for bugs. Now Lucas was stiff. Paula went right up to the bottom and looked up. "I can see your shirt Ness! Who's that with you!?" She yelled. Ness growled. "I said i'm not talking to you." Paula gasped. Then clenching her fists jumped up landing on....my....branch.....Looking surprised, only for a moment, Paula turned to Ness not caring if her annoying dress hit Lucas. "The principal announced that school is canceled due to the heat wave." Now that she said it, Lucas noticed he was sweating. A lot. Thank gosh for the shade. "Walk me home~!" She said holding out her hand for Ness to grab. Staring at her hand Ness laughed. "Come on Lucas let's go home." He said jumping down. Not even looking at her. With a moment of hesitation Lucas followed him slowly. He couldn't float in front of Paula so he had to grab the trunk of the tree to ease down. "See ya Katty." Ness said to Paula's friend. Leaving Paula wide eyed and in a fit.
