Gwen Eastwood watched as the brother of the sick man who had killed her entire pack storm out of the cabin furthest away from their campsite.
With her werewolf hearing, she had eavesdropped on their conversation while she did the rogues' laundry by the river. Gwen had wanted to know why the girl that they had brought back last night was of so much importance.
They had celebrated by the fire last night after a rogue named Patrick brought a blonde girl back from his 'mission'. Everyone had rushed to congratulate him the moment they saw the unconscious girl hung over his shoulder like some prize he had won.
Gwen could only wonder who exactly the girl was. She had no place in this 'pack' because she was merely just a maid, and that had been an unwilling choice.
Aloysius had murdered the entire Eastwood pack in cold blood, only keeping some of them he thought would be of great use to his rogue pack.
He kept her because she was the daughter of the Alpha, along with her little brother he had locked away from her in the separate cabin for prisoners.
Alphas were born with great strength and potential in their blood. Aloysius had hoped he could train Gwen to be obedient and use the Alpha blood she had to his advantage.
Unfortunately, things had not gone according to plan.
Gwen was a fighter and she would not submit to him, much less obey him as her leader. And Aloysius had retaliated by threatening her with her little brother's life. Gwen had to comply in order to save her little Ethan.
Six-year-old Ethan was all she had left. She wasn't willing to lose the only member left in her family because she was stubborn and her wolf wouldn't submit.
And so, they had a deal. As long as Gwen served the rogues and him obediently, her brother would be kept alive. She became submissive despite the dominant nature of the alpha blood that runs through her veins in order to keep her little brother safe.
The rogues didn't have a good supply of food and Gwen was slowly starting to become weak and malnourished. Her werewolf abilities were affected by this and hence, she could only make out some words while she tried eavesdropping.
She heard enough to know the blonde's name was Alison and Cadius had killed her parents because he wanted her. But that was all she had gotten.
"You! Why are you taking so long doing the laundry?" someone shouted from behind her.
Gwen jumped up in fear and saw that it was Aloysius who had startled her.
"I'm sorry, I am just about to be done, sir," she answered, with her head lowered.
Her wolf growled and tried to resist the submission within her. Gwen tried her best to rein her in before both of them got into trouble. Being an Alpha's daughter meant never having to submit to anyone other than the Alpha and clearly, her wolf had still not gotten used to their new life as the rogues' prisoner.
